Default beginner first time repair on Alloytech h-725G...need help

The alloytech h-725g is a co-axial heli. As a first heli, it was very tough to get used to but was able to enjoy flying it after a couple days and was able to enjoy it shortly thereafter. But after several hard crashes, the heli engines sounded loud (maybe not more than usual), the blades would spin but no lift. Additionally, the heli would just spin on the ground to the left regardless of trim. Gyro is not affected.

I noticed that the top gear, which controls the lower axial was a little bent/warped and noticed a crack from one of the screw holes. I ordered parts, spoke with a distributor about the repair and got some quick tips on the repair. Needless to say, as a first timer and with less than satisfactory "hobby tools", I couldn't loosen the bottom screw of the shaft enough so I had to remove the entire top half of the heli to replace the gear. Several hours later and no extra screws, I had the heli back together and went to give it a try. At first, it seemed that the repair was a success but then the heli dropped and spun left in place.

I thought I read somewhere that the screws on the shaft should not be tightened 100% but a slight loosening yielded the same results.

Any suggestions are extremely appreciated!!
