Default New Blade (EFLA801) camera thoughts

Hello all

I wonder what the quality of video will be like from the new camera for the Blade 200 QX compared with the camera that comes with the Blade 180 QX.

The specs are pretty similar. I wonder if it's the same camera re-packaged to attach to the 200QX nicely.

It's not.

The efla801 is an all new true (not software enhanced) 720p HD camera. We will be putting a comparison video online very soon.

Hello Brian

Thank you for replying and i look forward to the video as i was not sure if there was going to be any difference in video quality so a comparison will help me decide whether to go with the new (EFLA801) 720p HD Video Camera or a completely different type of camera.

Thanks Dave

Why did the original one (efla800) get discontinued? When I called tech support about issues with mine I was told having the bottom 20% of the video at the top was normal. That was one phone conversation I wish I had recorded. I concluded that Horizon was just expanding their line of paper weights and gave up. Basically I paid $150 for a 180 QX BNF with paper weight attachment. I should have waited for the $120 BNF

that is not normal. I'm sorry that someone told you that. Please call back and speak with a different tech.

Thanks Brian,
I am sure you could tell I was not a happy camper when it happened but I did call and explained my camera issue, phone support tech told me if I had some weird video(s) saved to save them to the micro sd card that came with the camera and send the camera in for an evaluation. My replacement camera arrived yesterday, even after I explained it happened almost a year ago. Plan to shoot some video with the replacement later today. Thanks again.

Yes, definitely. I understand. I'm glad they got it sorted for you.

I had to return my E-Flite - EFC-721 720p HD Video Camera as it would just keep shutting its self off and HH sent out a new one which does not do it but i have another problem with the new one it will not charge correctly as the red light just stays on whether attached to the pc and a screen appears wanting to format it even though there is no micro SD card installed or not.

If i charge it via a mains charger it flashes blue then red and then stays on red all the time and if i disconnect it after hours it flashes blue and red together.

If i put it on the pc it goes blue then red then blue then red and then stays on solid red and i get a format message whether a card is fitted or not and when i disconnect it it flashes red and then blue and red together 8 times and then off.

I give up

What memory card are you using? size? I ran into this issue and inserted a different SD card and it resolved it.

I have used a 2gb, 4gb and others the camera films no problem but whether a card is in or out when I charge it the red charge light does not go out at all either in a USB on a pc or mains charger and I do not film long videos.

Does not matter what size I use even 2 gig cards wont work, I have one 2 gig I got to work but nothing else will not even another 2 gig stick. Very frustrating I have tried 2- 8 gig one Kingston on Sandisk and nope those dont work, tried a 4 gig Kingston nope. Tried a 8 gig Kingston nope! a 16 gig Sandisk is a no go either! All class 4 tried a 8 gig class 10 sandisk and it doesnt work either, one that does work is a Lexar 2 gig, does not hold much. Wish I never bought this POS.

Well just went and got a Lexar 8 gig since that is only brand I have had luck with. I am recording a video with it as I type this and hoping it doesn't glitch out( had a few other cards act fine and then glitch out when vid gets to the point where it makes a new vid file. So hoping this one works I will update later oh and its a class 10.Never mind it just glitched out and stopped, what a waste of money. Might be time to stop wasting money on cards that will work with this pos and just buy a mobius. Which is a shame cuz this cam does take descent enough vids when it works, and I like the idea of not having to fart around making a mount for the Mobius oh well looks like I have a lot of micro sd cards for the mobius when I get it!

I wouldn't recommend this camera to anyone. It has major problems with finding an SD card that works properly. Its also advertised to allow up to a 32gb card but I have yet to find one that works and I have tried many in both 4 and 10 class. The highest I can get to work is a 16gb.

The camera also has problems with choppy video if you get into something with detail in bright light.

I have 2 SD cards that are the same but yet one only records up to 500mb and then starts another file while the other keeps it all in one. These are both brand new cards purchased at the same time.

Horizon sent me another camera but I am having the same issues with both. Oh and there is also a flaw in the lens where it looks like there is something on the lens that I have seen in every one of my videos as well as others.

Do yourself a favor and spend the $50 on something else.

Here is what you can expect if you decide to get one.

Eflight EFC-721 HD Choppy Video (1 min 7 sec)

I agree I should have invested my money elsewhere, or at least saved my money, I just bought the 808 #18 key chain cam with D lens and should have it in a few weeks or so, I have another key chain cam and used the mount for 721 cam and used velcro to attach it to mount and put an elastic around it, just to make sure it was nice and tight. The vids it took were in sd but there was zero jello(which is why I am going with another but better keychain cam), so hoping when I get new cam in and attach it the same way I get the same results!

I see now why HH has not released a comparison video of the new 721 vs the 720, they can't find a damn card to work with it!! lmao!!
