Any clue on Kosmik?
I just had a major Ooopsie with my XXtreme (Think I had the upgraded silver line sensor backwards) and am fairly sure I need a new ESC/BEC to go along with all the carbon fiber bits I now seem to be needing
I would MUCH MUCH prefer to wait on the Kosmik than get another YGE for it (I just don't like the soft start on the ESC and having to also have the BEC complicates the wiring a great deal) Don't know if I want to wait until Christmas though

Three weeks ago I contacted Kontronik via email.
They said they needed two to three more weeks... They expected to release the kosmik beginning to mid June...so it should be very soon ;-) |

I just really want to know if its gonna work well with scorpion motors and functions as good as the jive. When the jives first came out it was nothing but problems! |

If it was a 4525LE not Ultimate with Delta winding that is no surprise.

Our Australian distributor confirmed, over the phone, expecting end of June.
My Xxtreme is not flying again until it has a Kosmik 200 and 800-40L Pyro bolted to it. I feel robbed that the XXtreme version YGE 160HV has features locked out. I want the option to access those features and wouldn't hold Mikado liable if I was informed. Bit hard to onsell an otherwise good ESC if people can't use it the way they want.

If I purchase an OEM version I cannot expect it to have support for all original functions, regardless of product, same goes for chargers, TV's, you name it. OEM create it's own rules. Regards to Kosmik it will come when Q/A is ready, not sooner not later, but when that is i do not know exactly |

G'day Fredrick,
I just edited my post to say "wouldn't" instead of "would" hold Mikado liable. I pay top money for a product and I want the choice of how I use it. Like I said, if Mikado puts a waiver on it if I choose to play with the settings then of course I have no come back on them. It was always described as a Mikado Xxtreme version of the ESC but also always had YGE mentioned too. It just appears from my short few years in the hobby that often it's more of what's not mentioned, in particular, instructions that come with equipment not being clear enough or not mentioning something at all. When the end user/customer offers a suggestion (which should be interpreted as valuable, free, customer feedback) it seems to be mistaken as a direct attack on that companies product. It's obvious I have a preference for Kontronik equipment but that doesn't mean I'm 100% happy with their communication or instruction sets for their products. G;day Ben, As far as locked out features, it seems we are not able to use "Gov Store" mode on the Mikado Xxtreme version of the YGE 160HV ESC, which, by the way has YGE written on it and nothing about it been a Mikado OEM version. Cheers, Jays

It's a new FW, I suspect they removed the Gov store to get room for the code, plain and simple, there is no rule from Mikado saying "remove governor store mode", it's another FW and those ESC have limited space...
I bet if you send it in you can get it re-flashed to normal code. It was made now, first several hundred that went out was Standard FW which caused a HUGE problem for Mikado service and me as I helped a lot of people that accidentally cleared the ESC programming, not knowing... I see it as a totally moot point IMHOP. I understand your view but its like you purchased a MegaPower charger and expected it to have same functions as Fusion, they are the same, in all way but except color and firmware. /Fredrik |

What is the difference between normal code and Xxtreme code other than locking out features. If I got it reflashed would I still be able to set it up the Xxtreme way if I so desired?
My original ESC has just returned from Mikado (who knows if it went to YGE), as part of trying to fault find the obvious problems I was having with the Vbar governor, and as a case in point, there was no feedback on what was done to it, whether it had been re-flashed with the same or newer version FW and my LHS (the Australian Mikado distributor) was not sure what was really done either. My LHS owner only found out from me the Xxtreme version YGE is FW restricted. If Mikado/YGE had communicated with me or my LHS owner prior to sending it back, explaining the FW lock out of Gov. Store and giving me the option of having it flashed back to a standard YGE 160 (with the full understanding there would be no support) I would have most likely said yes. I am very much looking forward to the Kosmik ESC and hope the long wait to enable thorough pre-production testing results in a trouble free, reliable ESC with some great features. Any news you can share on the data logging feature, sensors, wire terminal crimping/soldering of our own custom length battery/motor wires etc? Regards, Jayson

Kosmik has as you know it's own external cables, handy when it comes to moving it between machines for sure as you can always change cables if needed. wonder how many will forget the heatshrink and get a warm fuzzy feeling quickly when they drop something though... Logging works, about same as JLog info (RPM, PWM, etc) No more ATV calibration needed on radio, it's 100/100 directly, programming is easy, with ProgDisc even more so. Does not have Mode 8 in the first go. A bit big & heavy is the only gripe I guess, depending on how tight space you have on the heli (not an issue on the XX) |

That's some good info, thanks.
I have seen a couple of sneak photos and I think I recall seeing two different mounting hole arrangements. Any ideas on how we might mount this ESC to the Xxtreme without having to home fabricate some sort of adapter plate, adding more weight. Do you think the current mount plate on the Xxtreme would be sufficient? I'm thinking of using the bolts on the side frames somehow.
