New bird on the way
I am so excited cuz I have a new (to me) Trex 250 on the way that I just purchased tonight. I just need to add my AR8000 to work with the GP900 already installed and I will be up in the air . Now the real fun starts .

OK, Ive since read that the AR8000 doesn't really fit into the 250 very well . Anyone have any suggestions for a satelite reciever that will work with the GP900? I am using a DX8 radio.
Thanks, LouP |

I have a trex 250 and while i dont use my AR8000 because i am using microbeast i do not see why the ar8000 would not fit inside the 250 vertically. All you need to do is move your gyro tray up to the top position

I plan on sticking the AR 8000 under the battery tray. Then I am going to run the satellite out the rear of the model and stick it under the gyro. This is the cleanest configuration I have been able to figure out thus far. The only down fall I can see is having too much weight up front and also that the AR 8000 could take a hard impact in the event of a nose dive to the ground. I think a smaller RX is the better option if you can go that way. I am already stretching my budget for this build right now. So I am just going to go with the AR 8000 for now. |

Check out this thread that I bumped LouP https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=339203 Or this one https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=385671. Also take a look at the 250 build thread as I also asked in there recently.

It might be tricky for gyro placement after that, there'd be no room on the upper side of the gyro mount, it would have to go upside down.

Good to know for sure. I knew it would be really tight if it was even possible.

a sat on a 250 ? not sure you need it .. you dont have enough frame there to do anything .. i run my 250 with a olda6100 and works fine .. i have the reciver stuffed on top of the gyro tray .. as long as you have the ant wires stickin out the sides . i think it would be fine .. but i could be wrong ..

The AR8000 won't function without a dsmx sat. If he is using that Rx, he will be using the sat. It's not optional.

Thanks Guys,
Litehawk, already saw both those posts in my research. Ok here is what I have come up with on my own but could use some more help to nail this down. The 250 is coming with a GP900 already installed so my options are to add 1 or two DSM2(X) spektrum remote recievers or add a smaller spektrum reciever like the AR6115 series. Is there any advantage togoing one route or the other? Also as mentioned here do I need two receivers with the 250 and will the GP900 work with only one receiver? Here is the link to the 250 I bought https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=360552 Thanks again, LouP |

I'm a bit confused on that... that link shows a 250 with a Futaba GY520 installed on it, and says it includes a 3GX.
Did you do another deal to get a 900 installed on it? Assuming you did a different deal in the end and are getting a 900. 1 sat is all that's needed. 2 are suggested for helis 500 sized and up. What radio will you be using? The GP900, like the 3GX uses gyro gain on CH7 if you're using a sat Rx. If you only have a 6 channel radio, you'll need to use a traditional Rx. I prefer the sat method because it makes a much cleaner install, and it's one less thing to fail. Especially on a 250, going sat only is a huge plus where space is a premium.

I know it's confusing but there has been some changes to the heli since the ad went up. The 3GX is out as he gave it to a flying buddy and a GP900 was since added. I just exchanged PMs with the seller and he is boxing everything up tonight.
Cool about the one remote. Nice, cheap, and easy (I think). Hmmm, would I bind to the satalite or the GP900. LouP |

Plug the sat in to the GP900, put the bind plug in to the GP900. Bind

Thanks Joe, so the GP900 doesn't need the second sat? I just ordered two just in case, I am sure I will utilize the second down the road if not on the 250. Also, I am using a DX8
LouP Darn, just re-read your previous post, never mind |

Awesome, was able to cancel the order and get just 1 sat. Just saved $35.

OK so I am starting to feel like someone may have pulled a fast one on me here (or is trying to). Since this is the first time I purchased anything used through the HF forums, I don't want to jump the gun too early but how much time should it take before an item is shipped in a private sale here? I am wondering if I should open a case with Pay Pal but I don't want to jump the gun too early. The money was sent and received by the seller on the 20th and he told me on the 21st that he would be shipping and sending me an e-mail or PM tomorrow with the shipping info. That was the last I heard from him. Am I just being paranoid?

Communication is the key.
Remember, people aren't doing these sales for a living, so realistically, it may take a day or two to get things together and shipped off. Whenever I make a sale, I try to let the buyer know what's going on. It weighs on me until I get the thing in the mail, and then again until it arrives You've got a month to make a PayPal claim so I'd send him a PM/Email and give him a day or two before I got uptight.
