Thanks Mr Bergen, for the replies. That is what I like about the helis everybody wants everybody to fly.

Sorry about the old thread. I just figured I was supposed to search for my answer first. I figured the thread was already started, so I bumped it. I am not building a UAV, I am just interested in long flight time.

I am still wondering in my newbie feeble mind, I am trying to put together how the quick sweet sixteen electric advertises 35-40 min flight time.
Our Quick 16 Helicopter is equipped with the following:
JR All-Digital Servo's
JR NER649 Digital PCM Receiver
Futaba GY401 Digital Gyro System
550 MM Carbon-Fiber Nite Blades
The Specs for the Quick 16 helicopter are as follows:
Aveox High Voltage Control Board
Aveox 36/38/3 Brushless Motor
Full Metal Head w/ Thrust Bearings
8mm Main Shaft
Main Gear - 120 Tooth
Auto Rotation Hub
Batteries - 2 X #4S3P (8S3P) Lithium-Polymer 16.4Volt, 8000mAh
I am having trouble doing the math and understanding a 35-40 min flight time. I am figuring it is the motor battery setup. the ad also says it can handle 3d maneuvers.

Why wouldn't a lot of people want to buy this. Most flight times I see 6-15 min. Is it the control board. If it's too general to answer I understand. I know 30-40 min is a long flight time. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the replies.

Your answer is here,

Batteries - 2 X #4S3P (8S3P) Lithium-Polymer 16.4Volt, 8000mAh

With my e-Observer at 24 Lbs, we can fly for 20 minutes with 4 ea 6s batteris of 6500 Mah ea. We wire them into a 12s2p configuration, doubling the voltage AND the MAH (13,000 Mah) to acheive that flight time.

The heli you show above is a smaller electric with LOTS of Mah... ANY similar sized bird can do the same...
