Default Issue attaching tail transmission housing to boom

Anyone have a tip for getting the two bolts through the boom tail clamps and into the tail transmission housing? There is NO way it will line up for me. The transmission needs to slide into the boom maybe another millimeter (maybe a bit less) and it's already against the end of the boom as tight as it will go.

The only thing I can think of is to enlarge the holes through the boom a little but that seems risky :-(

Anyone else heard of this happening?

I had to elongate the holes in the boom a tad with the last couple of replacement booms I got, same issue....

Only took a few swipes with a rat tail file.......

And I Zap a piece of 1/2" square 1800 wet and dry to the top of the boom , about a half inch from both ends of the boom ::: it'll never slip !!!

Thanks guys... I figured it was either that or grind the end of the boom a hair shorter to let the transmission go further in. I thought that might be more accurate than making the holes bigger and have the same result... i like the file idea though... I don't trust my drilling ability! hehe

I take it you guys also noticed that the tail pushrod ends up too long if you build it like the manual says! I'm glad I trial fit it before gluing and saved the effort of cutting & rethreading later.

I'm a software engineer and I'll bet the same guys that put together such a beautiful kit also tried to put together the docs. Same thing happens where I work. We write great software but any documentation we write doesn't quite cut it. I looked at one other MA manual online and it was full of digital pictures and better descriptions of the step. Maybe a new Spectra manual is in the works
