Default Trex 450 PRO DFC - Battery Choices????

Just built the Trex 450 Pro DFC.

Whats the best choice of battery/s.

Thinking of going with the Turnigy naon-tech 2250mah.

Only thing is, I heard the shipping takes a bout 3 weeks. Is this true??

Any other reasonable choices???

Yes, shipping takes long time. However, price wise, it is good and reasonable battery life. You can spend a lot for the brand name batteries such as Thunder Power, Hyperion, etc.

I've been running just the zippy 2200's and they have been great.

Order batts from the US warehouse and the shipping time or charges aren't too bad. Either way $45 for one thunder power or $45 for three zippy's which are every bit as good.

I went with genace 2200 60c packs. The cells seem to be better quality so far compared to the nanotech. Feels much more solid (cooler) instead of soft warm after ran and good punch also.

I got 6 gen ace 2200 30C, but my build are not complete yet. I hope I have enough C rate

But normally 2200 X 30 = 66amp for a stock ESC of 35 amp should be enough.

I will be using some 35C 2200mh Turnigy packs, just finishing the build and finding that the canopy is a very tight squeeze to get on, any thoughts on getting the canopy to go on more easily?

I've run Turnigy 2200s and they have been fine. I've also found that the Nanotech 2200s don't perform any better for me, so the extra cost is waste. The nanos also puff sooner.

I'm using Thunder Power 65C 2250mAh packs. They're more money than other packs, but they last significantly longer than others, are more consistent cell to cell and pack to pack, and their warrant is second to none!

I've been using LiPo batteries for about 10 years, I've tried so many different brands it's not even funny. There is a reason all my important LiPo batteries are Thunder Power....

I use pulse ultra 2250. Plenty of power, good flight times, and zero puffing. All of the turnigy and nanotechs puffed on me after a dozen flights or so.

check my post here: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=488442

My favorite are Turnigy Nano-Tech's (the one I liked is the USA warehouse so you don't have to wait for long shipping) and the ebay ZDP power lipos (also linked in that thread)

The only downside to the nano-tech's are that I have to cut off the xt60's and solder on Dean's, and I suck at soldering...

This is surprising, in the giant scale plank world, there have been a lot of less than favorable experiences with Thunder Power packs. A few people have had good luck with them, but for the most part most people I know have stopped using them. Not to mention they are incredibly over priced IMO.

I made new holes in my canopy, and moved the grommets there. Make the new ones a little towards the back, shifting the canopy far enough forward to fit over the battery without trouble. Make sure the canopy is still engaged with the clip at the bottom, or otherwise held in-place, though. If it swings up during flight and hits the blades, it will be a big mess.

I run 40c gens ace and they don't heat up at all. A lot of people I fly with push there batteries to low and they heat up, so they think there battery is not powerful enough.

I practice with my 450pro, I don't fly it very aggressive and it has a moderate head speed and after 4min of flying im at 3.8v per cell.

About the most aggressive thing I would do practicing would be a 4 point tic toc everything else is funnels, half flips, pirouetting stationary. Like I said im not pushing it.

dragging this old thread back out. If you had the chance would you pick a 25c or 55c battery if the price difference were only several dollars? does the increased weight outweigh the benefits of the higher c rating?
thanks
Jeff

Are you debating between the thunder power batteries that are on sale right now? I usually go for the higher C rating. If you're getting a few batteries try one of each.

Yes I am looking at the tp batteries. for the price of the sale they are basically the same price as the hobby king line of batts. If I would try both sizes can I use a parallel charger to charge them at the same time?
thanks
jeff

Yes you can still parallel charge them together. As long as they are both the same cell count the C rating won't matter for parallel charging.

Default Trex 450 PRO DFC - Battery Choices????

Thanks a lot!!! But they are charging $350 to ship 6 x 3S 2250mah 55A packs to Australia and this is over 3 times the cost of the batteries... Don't know why that expensive...
If it was possible, any ideas of the cheapest shipping method to AU (I guess $25 max via USPS)?
