MCPX swash leveling

Remove canopy
Remove upper links from swash to blade grips.
Remove the screw that passes through the rotor head and shaft.
Remove the complete rotor head assembly, it just pulls off the main shaft.

Instal a small zip tie as shown and clip off extra.



As MCPX is a fly bar less helicopter the helicopter will centre it's servos when you plug it in.

Please turn on your radio, plug in your MCPX set it down and let them bind.
Unplug helicopter and shut off radio.

Look at the helicopter. Place the zip tie over the highest of the 3 ball links!
Slip the zip tie down the main shaft until it is just touching the highest ball link as shown.



With the main gear, manually turn the main shaft so that the zip tie passes over the other ball links one at a time and see if there is any space between the end of the zip tie and the ball link.

If you find a low link. Turn the marker away from that link. Pop the low link off swash and adjust the link one turn counter clockwise. Snap the link back on the swash and re check.

Continue this process until you have all 3 links at the same height.

Turn on your radio, plug in your MCPX set it down and let them bind.
Unplug helicopter and shut off radio.

Re check all 3 ball links for correct height.

When you are satisfied that your swash is level. Remove zip tie!
Re assemble the head of the helicopter and do a zero pitch setup as described in the link below.

So if you have bent a push rod in a crash can u
1. bend it straight again until swash is level
2. Need to replace rods
3. Leave as bent and just rotate it as mentioned until level again

I had leveled my swash before and thought it was good until I tried this method. Turns out I had bent one of the AILE links in a crash and it needed adjusting. Thanks for sharing a quick and accurate approach! Very helpful. My V1 flies much better now.

I'm sure it would work ether way, likely better to replace the original with a straight one.

Not sure what kind of zip tie you are using... or if the MH swash is just a little different from stock.... BUT I cannot get the zip tie low enough to come close to the top of the ball links...

I used the smallest zip tie I could find... Not sure if they even make a zip tie any smaller...

I think a piece of tape would be better in this case...

meh, I went and sprung for the mcpx swash leveler from RKH (iirc) when I splintered my main shaft. Works great!

Yeah, the zip tie doesn't work great with the mh swash. I use the zip tie with a piece of masking tape taped to the end of the zip tie to make up for the gap to meet the ball links.

Based on your zero pitch setup, should I go ahead and turn all the links counter-clockwise 3 times, then level the swash? Then, when I zero pitch, just skip the 3 turns part?

Level the swash by adjusting the necessary links. 2 at the most will need to be adjusted to get it level and maybe only 1.

Once it is level. adjust all 3 links by the same amount up or down to get zero pitch at mid stick.

You should check the Swash level, lower the pitch and then do the Zero Pitch. Sometimes the Swashplate comes from the factory completely leveled. In these case, start on lowering the pitch and then do the Zero Pitch. Please do not forget to program the TX first as the manual states.

Easier said than done. I tried to use the screwdriver that came with the heli. This screw is super tight and I just stripped it. Now, I'M screwed. Unless, someone has a good idea, the heli either goes to the shop or I buy a new one, if I ever want to remove the rotor head.

Don't understand why in hell you have to tweak something out of the box to get it right. Maybe I'm in the WRONG hobby.

OK, just found out some more info. Based on another thread I read, the screws in these helis are called Japanese Industrial Standard (jis). They are NOT Phillips head, but the screw drivers supplied are, and they don't match correctly, especially with screws this small. Was wondering why I always seem to have a hard time with the small screws on my helis.

I WILL follow up with Blade on this one.

OK, initial aggravation over.

I think all I need is a Main Rotor Hub, Main Shaft and screw. Also, need a set of small JIS screw drivers, which I've seen posts stating where you can get them.

Lesson learned. If you struggle removing a screw, you may have the wrong screwdriver.

Sorry if I pissed anyone off with my rant, but the warning about the Blade supplied screwdrivers may still hold. I have contacted them about the situation.

How do you adjust the amount of negative pitch. I have zero pitch at mid stick but when I get inverted I can't seem to climb skywards? Maybe it's a setting on my dx6i?? (yes I am in idle up!)

I was suggesting you use a linear curve.
If you have a DX6i.
Check in your travel adjust menu.
Pitch.
Make sure it is 75 at full positive and 75 full negative stick positions!
See arrow direction!

Are you using 0 25 50 75 100 pitch curve?

I will look in later, hopefully you will be sorted.

Hi Ron,
Yes using 0,25,50,75,100 Interestingly I was at 90 positive and 72 negative pitch... I wasn't really bogging on positive pitch but I have noticed a slower head speed of late after changing frame not sure if motor/ lipos going or gear mesh to tight.

Is there any reason why you suggest 75? Not sure setting + pitch to 75 will be a good idea if my head speed is low (throttle curve is 100 flat) and was thinking might need to change neg pitch to something like 85... Thoughts?
