Default KBDD Team Pilot Bios!

One of our Team Pilots suggested that we all post information about our experience, time in the hobby, the different machines we fly, our backgrounds, locations in the country, etc., so that people can get to know who we are.

This section of the forum will be dedicated to that purpose.

OK, let me kick this thread off -

I'm Scott Dedic and I may be the newest member to the KBDD Team. I live in San Diego and fly out of the Palomar RC Flyer Club located in Fallbrook, CA. If you have ever been to the San Diego Heli Fun Fly or you attended the 2011 or 2012 HeliFreak Fun Fly then you've been to the PRCF flying field and probably met me as I was the clubs Heli Chairman.

I started flying helis about 6 years ago and I'm currently flying a Compass 6HVU, Compass Warp, Sirocco 475E, Sirocco 550E, Forza 450 and several smaller helis. Right now I have KBDD blades on both Compass helis, the Sirocco 475E and on a Blade 130x.

I fly at the San Diego Heli Fun Fly and other local events and this year I'm trying to get up to Morgan Hill for the Santa Clara County Model Aircraft Skypark fun fly in May 2016.

I hope to meet more of you guys along the way!

My turn...

This is my 40th year in R/C helicopters (42nd year in R/C) having started with an American R/C Revolution, fixed pitch, .40 sized machine back in 1976. I live near Los Angeles, California, and collect R/C helicopters (actually tried to collect one of everything for a while and then gave up).

I was a field rep for HeliCenter West (Schluter) in the late 1970's and GMP in the early 1980's. I did some TV work flying model helicopters (Knight Rider and Airwolf), and some feature film work (Defense Play, Hard Ticket to Hawaii), back in the early 1980's.

I have been flying KBDD products for almost eight years now, starting out as a Field Representative, then a Team Pilot, now as Team Manager. I have done quite a bit of testing for KBDD (paddles, blades, and dampers) over the years. I love the way the KBDD Blades fly on everything from my Nano CPX to my Compass Chronos (700).

I am also the Team Manager for Compass/Nankin Hobbies in the U.S., a Team Pilot for JR Americas, and a Field Representative for Western Robotics.

I would like to state that we have an absolutely great group of KBDD Team Pilots going into 2016!

I'm 35 yrs old and from Yuma, AZ. I started flying RC at the age of 5 and began flying helis at the age of 18 with a Century Hawk and a mechanical gyro. I've pretty much done everything there is to do in RC. I fly airplanes, helis, sailplanes, race quads, and even race cars. I've flown in the XFC a few times as an airplane pilot, invited multiple times, and even invited to fly helis at XFC. As for my day job I'm the lead pilot instructor for a military UAV program. I'm a team pilot for KBDD, Graupner, MKS Servos, Castle Creations, Byron Fuels, and Thunderpower. I currently fly the Compass Cronos and the 550 Ultimate.

I'm late to the party it seems!

I'm 39 years of age, and from Muncie, IN. By trade I am a retail merchandising specialist with a focus on Consumer Electronics

I've been into the Helicopter side of the hobby for five years now, and going on six come November. My first KBDD Blades were purchased after my very first Collective pitch helicopter met Terra firma, in a not so graceful manner, on it's third hover... Been using KBDD products ever since, in some form or fashion; tail blades, dampers, etc.

I am also a Field Representative for Compass Model, and recently just stepped down from OMG. I have another sponsorship I am optioning at this point in time as well, but I don't want to spoil that one just yet.

Before helicopters, I was pretty heavy into the RC cars, buggies, and trucks for many years, and raced on an amateur basis locally from the late 1980's to the mid 1990's. My uncle was Sponsored by Team Losi for many years, and he was the one that got me into the RC cars.

I have been fascinated with helicopters since I was a wee lad. My father knew a couple full scale pilots, and we tended to get a free ride now and then when they would work the state fair, or another event where helicopter rides were present. My dad made certain that helis were always cemented in my mind.

As I told Ah_Clem before, Airwolf was our favorite show of which we never missed an episode. Small world that the Team manager of one of my sponsors in the hobby I love worked on that show!

My Current Fleet
Compass Chronos 700
Compass Atom 550U (getting ready to purchase and have most of the electronics for)
Align Trex 600N DFC Conversion
Thunder Tiger Raptor N700 (E700) Converted to Nitro that I am building for a friend, and will be making delivery at IRCHA 2016.

All of which are or will be equipped with KBDD main and tail blades.

Default Introducing.....

Hey everyone Mike Pound, New team pilot. Still pretty jazzed about that.
I got into flying rc planes around 2005. Mostly 3d and giant scale IMAC. Then in June of 2013 while recovering from shattering my right hand I saw a video of Tareq flying between some palm trees and was like I got to try that. Ended up trading off my planes for a used trex 450 and a Quick OUTDOO, best trade ever. Have been hooked ever since. Still completely amazed at what these machines are capable of.
Some of you might recognize me from the last 3 Helifreak Funflys, was there helping out as much as possible, and meeting a lot of cool pilots. Look forward to volunteering another 150 hours this year. I am an AMA intro pilot, I really enjoy introducing new people to our wonderful rc hobby. Currently on the board of directors for the Anderson R/C park, ASHCREEK. Enjoy building and tuning just as much as flying. Get a kick out of helping others with tuning and set ups. And thank to sewerfly, I am hopelessly addicted to night flying.
Currently flying an Align 450l
Agile 7.2
TSA 700e pro all equipped with KBDD mains and tail blades, looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible at fun flies this year. I will be the one in the bright shirt doing some hardcore 3d hovering.
Happy flying and HUG YOUR HELIS

Default Scott -- KBDD Team Pilot

Hi everyone,

I'm Scott. I joined KBDD last month and I have to say I'm thrilled to be part of the team! I have flown a lot of different blades, but I'm happy to say I'm back home. I always used KBDD tail blades on my helicopters, but now I'm happy to report that I'm using KBDD mains, as well!

I got started in the hobby when my wife bought me Air Hogs helicopters for Christmas. I quickly outgrew those and moved on to a Blackhawk 500 RTF helicopter. After six months of complete frustration, swapping radios, watching a ton of Finless Bob videos, I finally was able to hover that helicopter.

Form there, I moved to a T-Rex 500 which I still have. Next was a Gaui Hurricane 425/500/550 helicopter that I bought at IRCHA for $50.00--Gaui had a sale. I really liked that helicopter, so I continued to fly it for a long time. Then there came a carbon fiber frame and new bearing block upgrade for it from Head Hunter helicopters. I bought that and was hooked. That upgrade brought out the potential of the helicopter. I liked it so much that I bought the company from the owner and made HeadHunter frames for about a year.

Next came a Velocity 50, a Furion 6, and a Compass 7hv. I loved them all. I still have the Velocity 50. I really loved the 7hv, but it was sold to fund electronics for an ALeeS Rush 750 when I became a field rep for them. About a year after that, I became team manager for ALeeS USA. I loved being team manager for Charley Stephens. There were a lof of good people on that team and I am still friends with all of them. I was team manager for ALeeS USA for about two years until an unfortunate turn of circumstances took place.

Next, I became team manager for Shannon Turner and DT USA. I have the the DT520 and DT700 helicopters which are great helicopters that nobody knows about. There were a lot of great people on that team. I will miss them but we all remain in contact and I consider each of them friends. That venture folded when DT told Shannon that they would no longer be in the helicopter business. I loved it there. Shannon is a great man and should be supported by everyone in the hobby.

The very day DTUSA went out, I was approached by Ah Clem to join Compass USA as a field rep. Prior, I was approached by Ah Clem to join KBDD. At that time joining KBDD was not possible, but during the call to me Ah Clem asked if I wanted to join KBDD. I lept at the offer and here I am!

About a year ago, I became team manager for OMGRCUSA. There were a bunch of good people on that team, too. I hope to stay in contact with them. Tony Whiteside will always be my friend, no matter what. Unfortunately, OMGRCUSA went away.

So, I have been through a lot in the hobby, but my dedication to the hobby is stronger than ever, now.

About three weeks after DTUSA went out, I accepted Ah Clem's offer to be a Compass field rep.

I'm thrilled to be a part of KBDD and Compass USA!

I am married for 12 years to a beautiful woman who accompanies me to most events that I attend. Recently, our grand daughter Emma celebrated her first birthday! We have a dog named Schumi who is spoiled to the max and you may have seen him at IRCHA or other events with my wife and I.

I am employed by a large telecommunications company and under contract to FCA USA. I have degrees in Computer Science so I'm a geek.

If you ever have any questions about any helicopter, blades or products and you see some guy running around in a day glow yellow KBDD shirt, don't be afraid to ask!

Scott

Alright: my turn...
I am Pascal Lutz, I am 43 year old and live in Kansas City. I work for Garmin as a Software Engineer. I have been flying for almost 5 years as part of the Eagles Associates RC Helicopter Club. I am currently the Vice President of the club. I fly almost every week-end weather permitting at the club's flying field and join as many regional Fun Fly events as practical. My flying style is mild 3D. I am Pascal-KC on RunRyder and HeliFreak. I am also a rep for Mikado as well as an ambassador for Revolectrix.

My fleet comprises of:
- Mikado Logo 700 Exxtreme (KBDD tail blades)
- Mikado Logo 690 (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Mikado Logo 600 (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Mikado Logo 500 (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Miniature Aircraft Whiplash 700 Gasser (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Miniature Aircraft Whiplash 700 EX (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Miniature Aircraft Furion 6 (KBDD main and tail blades)
- Henseleit TDR (KBDD main and tail blades)

As you can see, I am a big fan of the KBDD products: I have been using the KBDD tail blades all along, and the KBDD carbon fiber main blades since they were brought to market.

We are now getting ready for the 2016 Eagles Associates RC Helicopter Club Fun Fly on Sat June 11. This year, Kyle Dahl will be our special guest! I am the designated club photographer. Please see our page on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/eaglesassociates) for the pictures of our past events.

Hello fellow pilots: My name is Bradley Imhof, I am 17 years old and live in Southern California. I have been flying helicopters for about a year and a half. I have recently become a
“team pilot” with the KBDD organization and am excited to be part of the team!

I fly in Simi Valley with my Dad and all of my Simi flying friends. My Dad also flies and taught me everything I know about helis. I started out flying 3D airplanes and gradually began trying out helicopters. I really got hooked on helis because they were more exciting and challenging and required a lot more skill.

I currently fly my align 450 and 700 helis. I Also enjoy flying micro helis ; such as my Blade 180 and 130. I love flying right at sunset and really like flying my night rig when it’s pitch dark . We have modified one of my Align 450s with led lighting which is really cool to see!!

When I’m not flying, you’ll find me racing as I am a junior in High School and I’m on the High School Varsity Cross Country/Track and field team. See ya at the next fun fly!

Hey guys, as a new pilot to team KBDD I thought I would post a little bit about me in here. I started in this great hobby 12 years ago, flying RC planes. I learned on a .40 size trainer with the help of my local club. I was pretty content with airplanes at the time, and continued to learn new maneuvers etc. Go forward 5 years and my club had a heli fun fly. I saw a 600n getting thrown around pretty well, and couldn't believe what I was seeing!
All it took was that one flight and I was bitten hard by the heli bug. At 12 years old, it was pretty daunting attempting to get into helis, especially since the club I belonged to was all planes. I went out a few months later and bought an Esky Honeybee King 2. The first "flight" on that lasted about 5 seconds, and I knew I had bitten off more than I could chew. I learned to fly that heli in a summer, and was pretty happy with up to nose in hovering. Since then I have had a few more helis, and have settled on currently flying a Trex 500l Dominator and Gaui X3.
I have been flying KBDD products for 6 years now, starting on the first Trex 450. I tried a few different brands, but after putting the KBDDs on, nothing compared to the flight characteristics, durability, and outstanding visibility I got from them. So, I continued to fly them and put them on everything I fly.
Right now I am living in Grand Forks, ND, attending the University of North Dakota for commercial aviation and unmanned aircraft systems. I am going into my junior year up here, and loving every minute of it. I am working this summer flying an unmanned aircraft for a research project, and really enjoy that. When I am not out flying helis, you can find me at the airport continuing my flight training. Anyways, I am totally stoked to be apart of team KBDD, and look forward to representing this awesome company!

Names T.J. and yes I originally started off as an airplane pilot… Well for 6 months that is. I basically got bored. Then BAM helicopters, a used Kyosho Concept 30 DX with heli ball muffler and mechanical gyro to be exact. I haven’t been bored since. I have flown/owned so many different types of helis from concept 30, nexus, shuttle z, raptor v1, v2, raptor 90, hirrobo evo, lite machine. Then came the electrics Ms hornet, trex 450’s, align trex 600E 1st gen. and on and on.

I am located near St. Louis MO and I am part of the St. Louis whirly birds.

The first time I used a KBDD product was on the blade series of micros. The KBDD’s flew better than stock, were easy to see and more importantly they would take a hit and keep on ticking! They were a mid-day stress relief as I taught several coworkers to fly helis on lunch break. Fast forward a bit.

I am currently a pilot with Evolution helicopters flying the Rush 700 (my main machine, love this thing). I am also eagerly awaiting the release of the Versa latter this fall (starting to collect electronics). I also have a protos max, goblin 500, Raptor E700 and some blade stuff.

I would like to thank KBDD for bringing me on. Also if you see me at the field need some help or maybe someone just to spot for ya just ask.

Hello Gentlemen, My name is Jamey Paulsen. I have just been given the honor of being a KBDD Team Pilot.

I am 37 years old and I live in North East Missouri. I work as a lock and dam operator on the Mississippi River for the civilian world and as a Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (EOD) for the Georgia Army National Guard.

I began my journey into RC helicopters a little over 10 years ago with a Kyosho Nexus 30 and a Futaba skysport transmitter. I learned to fly using revo mix until I learned of this thing called a piezo gyro, man what a difference that made! Shortly after I bought a Esky Belt CP and a Raptor 30 with a Futaba T8U Super 8 channel TX which I still use today.

Since then I have flown countless brands of helis, most recently Align 500s and a Oxy 3. Currently my only noteworthy heli is my Trex 700 Gasser. That's my baby which has a set of KBDD 115mm carbon tails and will soon sport a set of 690mm EE.

My first experience with KBDD blades was on a TSA 600e Infusion which I purchased from a KBDD team pilot. I tried a few different brands on it and decided I liked KBDD a lot. I acquired a set of 350mm KBDD to run on a stretched 450 I was messing with and really liked them too. Since then whenever possible I have acquired KBDD blades when a new set was needed for the model currently at the mercy of my clumsy thumbs.

Prior to becoming a KBDD Team Pilot I was a Lynx Oxy Rep and a QF servo rep. Due to an unfortunate incident involving my 6 month old puppy and vet bills I sold my Oxy and TSA. At that time I decided it was best to step down from those teams as It was uncertain when I could acquire new products to properly represent those companies. The opportunity to join Team KBDD was present though and after much thought I decided that being a member of Team KBDD was actually what was best for me as I love the product and I didn't want to be where I couldn't proudly display the blades I love on the aircraft I fly.

I am very grateful and honored to be accepted as a member and Team Pilot for KBDD. Thank you all for this opportunity and I look forward to getting to know you all! Happy Flying!

Default Hey Guys

Hey Guys. I'm Dennis Delisle. Guess I'm the new guy on the Block and I want to thank you for allowing me to join the team. I've been wanting to be a part of the KBDD family for a couple years now and are extremely humbled to be apart of it.

I've been in the hobby for about 8 years now starting out with a good deal of Blade Helis. Helifreak was my main source of heli intel as well as meeting some great people in the hobby. 2 of those gentleman who helped me along the way are here in this team that im proud to share with...Derek Townsend and Jamey Paulson.

Currently, with the help of a great team of guys, I run the facebook group CP HELIS and are the creator of the CP Helis Nationwide Heli Throwdown touring funfly event. This hobby and the great people it encompasses mean the world to me.....its my stress reliever. Whether its at the field, online or talking to a buddy or someone new, helis are my passion and part of that passion is giving back to others when I can as others have done for me.
