Default Never thought it would happen to me......

.....but, last evening on my second flight w my E7 my castle 120hv cremated itself. That was only my 6th flight on this bird. I guess I got really lucky( if you can call it that) that my heli was not damaged. I had just took off so it was close enough by that I got everything under control very quickly. Now I'm totally lost on what combo to use. I'll pay good money for an esc if I know I won't have problems. I have the 470kv hacker and would prefer to stay with this motor but of there is a tried and true combo that I know I can trust then id switch. I was using the setting per matts file on the synergy boards. Only change I made was lowering the gov gain bc the heli was creeping nose right. What should I do guys???

I have used jives with great success. I have a scorpion commander v in my whiplash. I also have a cc ice2 120 in my e7. All work great.

YGE gets good reviews as well.

Belcom states this motor plays well with the hobbywing 120hv. Gonna give that a try. I wouldn't have went this route if I didn't already own a 6hv and the hw70hv has been nothing less than superb. We'll see. If it happens again, no mo 700 electric helis. I'll just fly my 6hv and N5c. Lol

The only ones I would recommend at this time is the Jive 120HV, Helijive or YGE 130HV.

That is if you want no fires.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

All three of those burn up, including the HW esc. It doesn't matter what brand you buy, it's going to be a crap shoot whether it flies or burns up on the first try.

After my 100 ICE burst into flames, I put the E helis away until someone can make an ESC guaranteed not to blow up in my face.

This isn't rocket science, but apparently to get this guarantee the price for the ESC would we three to four times what anyone would be willing to pay.

You don't see electric automobiles bursting into flames on any given day and they run on incredibly higher wattage than we would ever use.

After over a 1000 flights with Jives doing 3D, with zero issues, yes I think you will be fine.

Of course, very rarely it could happen with any esc.

But problems crop up on nitros too.

Yes, but not $400 worth of complete devastation.

I just checked the Castle website and there have been 7 service advisories/recalls on Ice ESC's since 2010. Thst tells me Castle has a serious QC or design issue on their hands.

You must be one of the luckiest guys around.

I have had 1 jazz and 3 jives fail and a flying buddy I know has had at least 12 jive failures, including 4 that failed out of the box on spoolup ( he has a lot of helis ). All mine were different setups and not 2 common components. I know quite a few guys personally that have had kontronik failures.

Saw 2 Jives power reset at Austin this year. And a Scorp 130 and LE motor straight from Georges Personal heli burn up as well in a 7HV

and more reports of reset issues and fires on high horsepower setups every day.

I think the problem is motor and battery technology is finally past the ESC tech currently.

they need to re-engineer the current line of ESCs for MUCH more power and future proof them a bit as well.

I believe Castle will replace the burned up ESC on warranty, if OP wants another CC ESC. Why don't you make a constructive positive post... for a change...

Your track record on the Synergy forum is surely not 99% helpful. Whatever... peace out bro... have a nice day, evening, life...
