Default Can my E5 = 700?

Hi
I thought I remembered reading someplace that someone took an e5 and made it into a 700 size e-heli. Is that possible? What would I need to change out if so? Is it worth the cost? Right now my e5 is a stretched 12cell.

Thanks for any useful input, I would appreciate it.

Yes you can do that without a problem. The parts list I don't have off hand but I'm sure some guys will chime in and tell you.

You can also find a ton of info for you Synergy heli here: http://synergyrchelicopters.com/forum/index.php

I ran my E5 as a super stretch. I switched the tail gears to the E7se gears. (54T/11T)
I ran it at lower head speeds so i wanted to speed the tail up a little.
Depending on battery used it can be a little tail heavy stretched this way.

E7 boom 315-140
E7 torque tube 320-500
E7 boom supports 315-117
E7 pushrod 315-111

With the setup above, is it ok to bolt on 700mm main blades? Do you need to beef-up the bolt holding on the blades or anything like that? Are 96mm tail blades sufficient? Are the E7 tail components the same as the N7 (ie: same length of boom, etc.)? I think this would make a great light weight machine and I want one

I believe you can put 5mm bolts and the 5mm bolt spacers in the E5 rotor head. I just put the 4m to 5m shims in my blades. Blade size kinda depends on what size main blade
and which head speed you want to fly at. I used 106 tails with a N7 tail fin on mine. The larger N7 fin bolts right on since they both use the same tail case. Ran mine on lower
head speeds with the stock E5 rotor head and never had any problems. 1500 RPM
was the max i spun the rotor head with 696 mains. I think Rob Cherry runs a E7 rotor head on his and a higher head speed.

The E5 frame allows you to run whatever setup/config you wish. If you want a full E7 setup, you can run the E7 head/main gear as well. I've run mine anywhere from 1500 up to 2500 hs.

A full conversion with identical setups is around 0.5 to 0.75lbs lighter than an E7. Weight savings are in the frames and a little less aluminum with a narrower frame width. The lighter E5 tail box is more than plenty because the front transmission is the same 18T gears in both models. The N7 uses the same E5 tail box as well for weight savings.

I run an X-era 4035-480KV motor in mine with 4400mAh packs. At 2050 RPM head speed I get 6-1/2 minutes. At 1850 RPM I get 7-1/2 minutes.

I did just this recently . Many refer to it as a "super stretch" E5. I like lower headspeed setups with a wide range of rpms (currently 1250/1500/1750 on this machine). Using 12S/4350 batteries, 715 vblades and 116 rail tails. Just switched from a talon 120 ESC to an Edge 80HV and seperate BEC-pro for a few reasons, but also lightened it further. I'm even using lighter than usual servos on the swash, futaba 3470's .They market them as a "car" servo but we've been using them in helis for a while, they have enough torque, center well, are fast, and are slightly more than a half ounce lighter than "normal" heli servos, so almost two more ounces total saved in swash servos. It's 10 lbs even and using a mix of the rpms during a flight I average 12 minute flights. About 60~70% of the flight is in the lowest rpm as that is the style I like flying most of the time.

Question

Are you running stock dampners? What adjustments on the head if any for the 1250rpm?

no damping changes,.. works fine stock.

It's still a "new" machine with less than 50 flights so I'm continuing to work on setup and playing with rpms. With the original 5500mah packs I didn't like it below 1350 due to collective response but with the lighter packs i've played with it at 1200 and could probably go lower. It just happens to be set to 1250 at this time.

So, I tach'd mine tonight because it sounded like it was spinning quite a bit faster than what Mr Mel's calculator said it should be. I'm actually getting just over 7 minutes at 2200 rpm and about 6 minutes at 2400 rpm.

Hello Gary once you get some time on the E5 stretch it would be great to see you post a video on here of you doing your low head speed routine.
Take care and by the way I have you flying a routine and doing a interview on a old IRCHA VHS tape ,but I cannot remember the year . Have to dig it out .

This is a short clip of the first half of the fourth flight I had on the machine. Was a bit more than 3/4 lb heavier than it is now(battery and esc changes), and of course only the fourth pack through it, so setup was just roughed-in. Was also at 1350/1750
Just a bit of what many call boring "geriatric 3D". I enjoy smooth stuff where you can actually see maneuvers rather than the "bumble bee on crack" style flying

Very nice, can you tell us what the rest of your setup is; Motor, ESC, pinion...
Thanks.
