I love it! Only one pipe work properly and it's the RL56 pipe. It is possible that the Hatori 522 could work too but I don't have one!
Carb works fine!

Connecting rod broke 10 seconds into first hover ... had it setup for break in per the manual and engine blew. Saw this happen to a few others as well on other forums. Evidently the low needle controls most of the range ... oh well ... and I'm not excited about more bearings in my OS 55. Think I'll fly electrics for a while!

Well ... much better luck with my second Redline 56. Started with the HS needle at 5 turns out not 3 like the manual suggests and the LS needle 1.5 turns out from flush which is the factory default which manual suggests should not be changed but by 1/8 turns at a time. Slowly leaning but have to go out of town this week ... Hope to get a few gallons through it week after next.

Well I picked up my 600 nitro again after a year off from nitro's and got the second engine broken in this past weekend. Flies great!

Default Re: Redline 56?

I do not have a RL56. I do have a RL53. It is fitted to my first nitro heli. I like it. Plenty of power for my Velocity. It was pretty straight forward to break in. Getting a smooth transition from low to high speed can be tricky. I had a decent transition last fall, but this spring I've lost it and I'm still working to find it again. It's not enough of problem to give up on the engine. I will probably replace the RL53 with an RL56 someday.

I recommend either the RL53 or RL56. Easy to start. Relatively easy to break in. Kinda hard to tune. Plenty of power. However, if you demand a perfectly smooth transition every single flight, this is probably not your engine.
