My mx is a 530. In running the 10t pinion with a flat 100 curve. My cc80hv reports hs around 2350 ish. Tons of pop and motor comes down cool. I can't tell if it would be alot warmer though but the big motor plates get pretty warm though.

so 540kv is definitely not out of the question? i did the calculation (still new at this) and the 470kv seems to require a 13t pinion, which gaui doesnt make. the 540 i could use the 10t or 11t and get 2300 hs. does that sound right?

It really all depends on whether you will want to govern or not and how you are governing. Scorpion has a headspeed calculator and according to them, they calculate their governing headspeeds based on nominal voltage and a efficiency loss of 92%.
