Don't know why but the heli will be faster inverted going backward.

Going backwards whether inverted or upright will have the open rear of the canopy acting as a parachute and the tail will be eating up a lot of power to hold the tail forward at high speed. Inverted will have the rotor operating in dirty air and make it less efficient.
Agreed on the backwards, but inverted is a bit more interesting.

In a straight vertical climb-out inverted is faster. The consensus was that the interaction of main rotor tip vortices with the tail rotor was reducing lift. But that is speculation, the tests did seem to show a difference though.

I wonder if it works when dealing with horizontal speed, likely not an issue since most of the tip vortices will not encounter the tail. You would also likely have difficulty keeping the inverted at speed, upright is pretty stable and if you are going fast enough being too aggressive on your turn/pull-up at the end can bring on RBS and crash your heli (or in some cases rip the head off the mainshaft). So trying to maintain inverted attitude at 200+ km/h might be a problem.

You need an aerodynamically shaped canopy, this gives the biggest increase in FFFF! And as was posted above, the shape needs to have as little drag in nose down attitude. Just needs to look at world record Banshee helicopters shape.

Monster horsepower helps, but flying technique and higher headspeed gives improvements as well. It is worth noting that the world record was done NOT with a 10kW motor they had available, but rather a more flyable 6kW motor!!
