Default 1st FDR !!

Never realised how much $$$ the quest for power supply perfection would take - anyway after splashing out on some 8S tannic packs I thought I'd also splash out on an Eagletree Micropower FDR - can anyone tell me the calibration for headspeed from motor rpm for the stock 600L burshless motor - I thought it might be 0.0588 (1/17) running a 11T onto 188T maingear with an FP 4900 but there's no way my headspeed is 2500

EDIT: It's actually 0.0463 if anyones interested according to my tacho.

This is beginners FF mode so gives flight duration of 12 mins (950mAh for 3 mins from FP 4900 pack) with an average current of 20A peaking to 34A for takeoff - I know it's all boring for the speed merchants but here's my low tech 1st FDR for the scale flyers

EDIT - This is SO MUCH FUN - great little recorder that Eagletree device - anyway 2nd graph today to post - same setup - no crash today so a longer flight time basically 10 mins for 3Ah so could go to 13 mins for generally hooning around and chasing the odd kangaroo (I'm serious !!)

My setup:
Jeti Spin 99 Opto ESC (Gov w/HS 2100)
GY401/S9254 (5.1V regulator on tail servo)
S9550's on cyclic
UBEC 6V
Futaba FP-R138DP (Rx)
Radix 600 Main Blades
Radix 95 Tail Blades
MaxAmps 10Ah 6s pack
Align 600XL (10T)
Stock main gear (170T)

From this priliminary data, I should expect to get about 16mins of FFF.

Bottom line: I'm satisfied with the performance of this pack for the type of flying I do (no 3d). Also the battery pack runs cooler than my TP5000.

Hi Dr.3d,

I'm glad you posted your 8s graphs with the 13T pinion that shows the headspeed, during maneuvers. I have a somewhat similar setup with a 12T pinion.

I'll attach a graph that shows the 12T rpm drop during some fairly aggressive flying (not flown by me however  ). This was only the 4th flight with the 8s rex (the first flight that consisted of more than a hover and a flip or two) so it was kept short. It has about +/- 13 degrees of pitch.

Edit: added an 8S graph of V-blades vs Radix blades, both 600 mm. The V's have more 'pop' but the radix aren't bad with 13+ degrees of pitch. Outdoor temp was around 55, the motor temp maxed around 120 and the battery was in the 90's.

This flight is hard cyclic manuevers.. The graft captures the working segment of the flight.

Here is the hardware:
600xl, 12T (straight)
TP5000
HV85 controller in GOV mode at 2150 target HS
600 blades

Here are the 600xl specs:
max current 70A continous/85A for 60 secs
max power 1600 watts continous/2000 Watts for 60 sec

Here are the results:
The ave amps in this flight is 57 amps with occasional spikes to 95 amps
The ave watts is 1187 watts with spikes spikes to 2000

I interperet this data to be well within the safe range of the 600xl motor.. Am I right?

I would say you are correct because you have not exceeded the specs per the XL motor. I've beat mine up much worse than that over a fairly long period of time and so far it's not given up the ghost! This can mean only one thing Sandy, You must fly much harder!

Default A123 8S

Bought an 8S A123 Tanic pack (LiIon) 29.2 nominal voltage and 2300 mAh. Decided to try out on stock 600L motor but bought cheap(ish) HV ESC (the Pentium 80HV) http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_...p?pid=EW-HV80A. Mounted her all up in the new bird.

Tried out the rig with an Align 4400 (about 50cycles) to trim the bird up and then put in the 8S pack - obvious increase in zoom factor and gave a good 6 minute flight before a rapid death and cut out by the ESC ~ 20 seconds.

FDR shows a very steady 24V output under load (29V off load) till power out for an average 22A draw during hover and FF.

Not going to set the 3D world alight but for $160 and 2C charge capacity probably worth considering as an alternative to the low end LiPo packs.

Default Madussa 36-1000 kv with Maxamps 8s 4000 man

Trex 600
With a Medussa 36- 1000 kv with 13 T.
CC 85 HV Fixed Endpoints

Ok this is the mighty Medusa Motor. First Test Run on 8s. Very Promising Motor. I think I over ran the battery just a bit. Having to much fun. I am going to be running a lot more tests with this motor. Did not notice any power difference between the Neu 1910 and this one. I also have a 1300 I will be testing soon.

The graph shows 50.83 Max V. Shows you're flying a 12S pack.
2 x FP4900 in series?

:? No, I assure you its just 8s. Thats an Eagle tree ism. Sometimes when you reset the controller it just starts with a default of about 55 volts. I don't get it. but if you move to the right it starts at 8s voltage. No 12s, I Promise.

Default Align Curves and Helifreak curves

Hi Guys, I thought you might like to see the difference between the FDRs of throttle and pitch curves from Page21 of the Trex600 build manual, and Finless Bob's 'mid stick = 0 degrees' and 'best power towards the top end of the rev-range' curves from curves101. It was bogged down - look at the headspeed. Thanks Bob youve brought my bird to life, now it feels like its on steroids!

Default Auto training, but a problem occurred

I've been practicing auto's today and logged it.

At around 5,5 minutes there's a spike, up to a 100 A....

Then at around 9 minutes the tail starts acting up a little.

Then at 10 minutes the tail really goes apeshit and I actually had a forced auto.
I can't find anything wrong with the tail. Only thing I can think of is that my rx lipo was low. The spike worries me though, I have no idea where that came from. Any ideas?

And the graph of course :-)

It happens when you turn on/off throttle hold, eagletree issue or something like it.
Mine does that almost every startup
