I don't get it!

Selling parts/upgrades at these prices could scare away customers.

Gaui parts were always decently priced,
One of the reasons for me to fly gaui

My last post, where i compare this price to seperate X7 parts did not realy make sense.
This is a set of parts and should be cheaper than seperate parts of a bigger heli added up!

Gaui please take note!!!

As much as I think its highway robbery for the new pitch slider I just ordered one.

I have absolutely hated that POS stock slider from day one. Hopefully this new slider will tighten up my X5 tail to what my Goblin 500 had from the get go.

Glad to hear it. Over 2000 flights on my airframe, and mine has never been tight.(I've done all the mods and replaced it twice, still sloppy as hell)

I was going to put a G500 complete tail and slider on it, but hopefully this slider will do the trick.

Yeah. I don't blame you for buying it. It just seems like highway robbery to me. It's like formula adds dollars to the price.

I've done a couple of things already to mine, such as the x7 turnbuckles, gobby cf pushrod, formula canopy. And, my tail has been loose on that tail link ball since day 1, with a touch of binding at the extreme extended end - but I still love it. So, to get to Formula, I think I need:
New Head - $90
Swash - $42
Pitch Slider - $69
Tail Case - $60
Gobby 500 Turnbuckle - $19
Or, $279 total

I think at a certain point it may be worth selling your used airframe and replacing it with the new Formula kit. You would end up spending the same money and have all new parts..

I wonder if microheli will roll out with their "version" of it like they did for the x3 in a few months?

I'd really like to try it out as I am basically grounded for a wagging tail, but sheesh thats nearly the cost of another pack.

It is good to see the x5 get some new life breathed into it though from the mfg.

My point of view is that the old tail of the X5 has problem in its design because lot of them make bind at the end of the travel, close to the tail case, so you can't use the whole travel of the slider because of that issue.

Regards to this, gaui should take that issue into account to make a good price for this upgrade, but it has make a really high price as other colleagues has already told.

Your tail should not wag even with the sticok parts. Have you checked the distance of the link from the tail servo center ( ~15mm )?
Binding?
Your gain settings?
Vibrations?

a small amount of pre comp on the tail blades?

Im going to try and get a video of it, but ive been flying pretty high as its hard to get it back when im "diagnosing" the tail.
I posted recently in the "what did you do today" thread as well if we dont want to hijack the new slider thread.

I used the same servo wheel, it wasnt damaged, but i will check the link. Stock G502 servo.
40.5% gain in transmitter mode. Forget which light this is.

Tail slider binds a bit at the very far end (and has on every tail combo ive put on). I use the travel adjust in the BX setup to make sure it doesnt go that far. slider is very smooth when i pop the links of at either end and move by hand.

It doesnt LOOK vibrate-y, but i dont know how else to tell. All other non-rudder flight it behaves great.

Not sure about the tail pre-comp? As in mechanical throw to one direction "built in"?

And thanks for the assist. Shes very pretty hanging on the wall, but i would very much prefer that she fly

If you put a longer ball on the pitch slider it'll stop binding at its extent.

Wow - it's already sold-out on empire-rc website!!

It's either very popular or they ordered 5 of these from Taiwan.

I want to try these 'red' updates, but I think the new barebones formula kits with the updated 'red parts' and blades (GAUI # 208052) would be a better value than buying the new head, new swash, new tail pitch slider separately. That's $200+ by itself if bought separately.

Opinions?

A spacer/washer under the ball fixes the tail binding at the extreme right throw.

Still a very sloppy tail, but it makes it better.

Converting and FES kit to Formula
Tail Pitch Lever 68.99
New Swash Plate 41.99
New Formula Rotor Head 89.99
Carbon Boom Supports 20.50
Formula Canopy 92.50
X Tail Case 59.95
Total= $373.92

Converting Formula Kit To New Version
Tail Pitch Lever 68.99
New Swash Plate 41.99
New Formula Rotor Head 89.99
Total= $200.97

If you are flying an older FES kit it makes sense to grab the new kit version when it is available. If you have a first version Formula kit it's a harder decision to make.
