External Receiver Problem

I am in the process of converting an Outrage 550 from FB to FBL utilizing a used Total G. The heli flew perfectly with the FB set up for over a year. I have loaded the software (V2) and installed the Total G. All the wiring is hooked up correctly. I can get the Total G to show up on my computer but I keep getting a message that says my radio is not turned on. I even tried to run the repair utility and it said it could not link up to the unit for some reason. I initially powered up the Total G without the radio turned on and switched it to external receiver, power cycled twice and then tried to access the radio set up with transmitter turned on.

Any help to get this solved would be appreciated.

Update:

I was able to get my second Total G to switch to external receiver, but no matter what I do the first one will not. The one that will not link up with external receiver has a different sticker on the side to seal the case that has FSTLX on it, not the oval "Passed" sticker like the one I am able to get to link up with external receiver.

not sure about the sticker, but I would give CYE a call tomorrow and ask them about that. they are quick to respond.

I sent Brian and email yesterday after giving up and moving on to setting up unit #2. That one is all set up now and ready to maiden this week. I will give them a call if I have not heard back by email in a couple of days. Thanks for the reply.

I got my Total G back from Brian this week with firmware fc11_3c7 installed along with DSMX capability and fail safe low throttle option. Went into external receiver mode immediately and set up went flawless. This unit with the updated firmware seems to be a lot more locked in than my other one. Total G #2 will be going in for a firmware update ASAP. I am brand new to the Total G and pretty recent to FBL but like how they are performing. I like this much better than the 3G that I started with a few months ago.
