Default Stretch belt for the 450x

Hi guys
I've been running the 450x with the stretched belt for a couple of months now and like the way it flys
But as some people may know lynx has discontinued that line

I can make the boom myself but not the belt

Has anyone found a replacement for it ??
I have done a bit of searching but not really found anything positive as yet

Any help would be great

Cheers watho

IF anyone is interested I just got this reply from lynx after they told me the 450x line was discontinued

Hi Mark,
You can buy this belt :

SP-OXY3-108 - OXY3 - 285 Stretch - Tail Belt Spare

It is the same tail belt for 450X.

Thanks

Customer Service Lynx Heli Innovations

Thanks Watho, that is great information! The 450X stretched is a nice machine. Hope parts last for a while!

No worries Steve
I just can't believe at first they said it was out of stock ,then when asked they said it was discontinued
After o while of chasing around to see what else would fit I ask if they could tell me of a supplier ??
Then the come back to me and let me know that the oxy 3 belt will fit
My main question is ,if the oxy 3 belt fits ,why say that the 450x belt is discontinued while still stocking the oxy3 belt that fits ????
Am I missing something or has someone lost the plot

I know we come from down under ,but really are they for real ???

Cheers watho

I'd ask for further clarification. Seems to me that a "stretch" OXY 3 belt might just be the same size as the standard 450X belt because the OXY 3 is a considerably smaller heli. Even stretched it doesn't run anywhere near the 325mm main blades an un-stretched 450X runs. A stretched OXY 3 runs 285mm main blades. Also note that Lynx said it was the same as the 450X belt, not the 450X stretch belt.

Thanks for the headsup Mike
Have not got or really looked at the oxy 3 so never really gave it a second thought ,thanks
If I get a chance will contact them again and ask a second time for clarification
I think it's a bit rough when you ask a supplier and get a dumb answer
I actually asked if they would give me a supplier or an alternative place of purchase
I did think it strange that if they had other belts that fitted the 450x stretch that they discontinued that belt ??

I wouldn't even know where to look to special order such a unique belt. You'd probably have to order them in a bulk pack of 1000 or more.

Hi guys
Ye that's what I was thinking
I did order the stretch belt for the X3 and found that it is about 80-100 mm longer so thinking I might try and make a boom with a length of CF tube and then will just have to make a push rod for the servo
Hopefully shouldn't be tooooo hard
Thanks again for your input

Watho,

I understand your frustration with the answer you got. It would make sense if the Oxy belt is the same as the B450X stretch for Lynx to continue to sell the belt in the 450 product area. There are several issues that could be a problem though.... Could be English as a 2nd language or a salesperson that does not know the product specifications well enough. Not that a problem like that could ever occur when you buy from US sales staff!

One thing you might consider is to place a call to a US distributor to ask a similar question. I see that Revolution RC has the OXY3 stretch belt in stock, so maybe they could tell you if the part is the same. Please let us know what you find out. That information will eventually be useful to others of us.

Steve

Will keep looking and have a play

Morning guys
Well found some CF tubing in stock and have ordered $24 per 1 metre length
I have a 450x and 450 3D
So my thoughts are ,one I will have a go at making a boom to fit the X3 belt ,approx 4" longer
The other I will have a look at the tarot extended belt and see what size boom is needed for that ( have some 400mm CF tube for that)

Thinking I may have to go with 3000mha batteries to get CG

Let the fun begin

Happy building watho

Waltho,

Please let us know how your improvising works out. Many of us will probably be in the same boat in the near future. I love the Lynx upgrades, but unfortunately, when Blade discontinues a model, the external vendor support soon follows.

It sucks, but it's also reality. These small companies just don't have the resources to continue making all the aftermarket parts for every heli they supported in the past.

Morning guys
Well the CFrod turn up yesterday
Took some photos and will post them later , did some measurements and found using the X3 belt the boom has to be 100mm longer than the lynx extended boom
Hopefully will start drilling and machining today

I'm thinking I will need more weight up front and thinking I may try using 2 x 2200 mah batteries in parallel to give me the weight I need

Any thoughts or imput would be great

Cheers watho

Evening Guys
This was the second flight, wasn't sure if it would work LOL, the first flight had a tail wag so lowered the gain to 70% and got rid of most of it

450X using X3 extended tail belt mod test flight (1 min 1 sec)

i was just about to start asking if anyone has stretched the 450x
i saw the lynx 391mm boom which looks to support 360mm blades.
any advice on stretching? ive seen a few different booms for stretching but none of them come complete with boom, belt, tail assem. which is what id want so i dont have to fabricate anything.
