Spartan and the vortex is awesome, only thing they should improve is the gyrotape.
It is alot off question about the tape, an almost everybody uses another type off tape.
I`m running 3gx tape on my vx1n. Ordered extra tape from spartan but I`m not sure if I`m gonna use it on my new VX1e when it`s arive.

Is it anybody who uses the stock tape?

Made a couple minor tweaks to the Rotor tuning parameters and the Esprit is even more awesome!!

I let my best friend fly it today, he has a Goblin 570 with VX1 on it. Now he plans on buying a VX1e for the 570 and and putting the VX1 on his G700. I'll let him chime in on his impressions of the Esprit on my Gaui.

Here's a pic he took of my heli today. Notice how I showed it's good side.

Ok, I've been bouncing around from fbl to fbl. Mostly the majors; ikon, vbar, beast, and hc3sx except futaba. The best feel so far has been the beastx. The tail was middle of the road but on my x7 it's been pretty good with the ratio. the head has been money. good enough I never bothered to tune or adjust for over a year. Curiosity killed the cat and finally was willing to explore back into spartan. Like others back in the flybar days I pulled off the old reliable futaba 520 and a 401 for the spartan koolaid. Like others the unexplainable feel kept me loyal until I made the change to fbl (beast). So If there was a wizard that could pull known characteristics of gyros into one case mine would have; head feel of beastx, tail of spartan ds760, piro stability of vbar 5.3, field tune ability of beast, gov of ikon and ease of setup of ikon. Well I heard on podcast "who shall it be named" about the vortex vx1e at ircha. Got a friend attending to hunt one down for me, slapped it on and just now did a test flight with basic setup. No tuning, 3 headspeed changes and I'm done looking for the "one". My long lost "never to fly again" ds760 is back, feel and all with the rest of the wish list on board. The data pods is icing in the cake. Simple to super nerd levels of info. Graphic displays are cool. Anybody could program this. Sorry to ramble but props to Angelos Gonias. You've done for helis what Noble did for super cars; brought back the feel in flying.Click image for larger version

Can this unit be used in a 700 class machine. I have a logo 600se running 693 blades that needs a fbl unit or would i be better off with the nano

Yes, it can be used on a 700 size no problem. If you have a high end heli and would "like" an equivalent high end FBL controller, you might select the VX1 or VX1n for the pinpoint sensors and highest vibration tolerance. Either one would be the "flagship" offerings from Spartan.

But if your heli is mechanically sound and smooth running, the VX1e will be just fine. I have been thoroughly impressed with mine after three days flying in a row.

So after three days of watching Bob fly his Gaui with the new Vortex Espirit I was "told" I have to try this. I have to admit I'm always nervous flying Bob's heli's. I have complete confidence in his build and set-up skills. It's just his settings seem so quick to me, and its hard for me to fly my normal routine on his heli's. So I kinda reluctantly said I'll try it and I was glad I did. I was amazed at how it felt in the air. I have to honestly say it felt better for me. I was able to do my normal routine on his heli and even did a few pirouetting tic-tocs which I have never done with one of his helis. The stops were nice and crisp and you definitely know it has a Spartan vice-grip tail on it. I'm planning on putting one of these on my 570 and 500. I think the direct usb plug is such a nice feature. I'm just amazed that all this performance is crammed into this unit at this price point. I'm with ragtop1 on this, Great Job Angelos

I will be doing the maiden flight of my VX1e in about 8 hours or so. I have only ever known the iKon fbl. I am a new pilot with just over 12 months of flying (18 months of sim) I replaced the iKon in my Rush 750 which flew fine for me except I was trying to tame the tail, when I decided to pull the trigger on the VX1e at IRCHA.

I am very impressed with the Vortex Studio beta.

I will be flying it "out of the box" with no tweaks to any of the stock settings.

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded the software... But no demo mode.
Is there a way to see the system? Like flight modes, config style?

Cheers

Mark,

Make sure you go through the Heli and Style Wizards to set your head type, blade size and flying style. And choose Analog for the throttle servo type. Let us know how it goes!

Lighty,

The demo mode isn't part of the Studio, rather its a whole separate link from the product page downloads tab.

Never occurred to me that I have to set a throttle servo type. I will set that before I leave. I did set the heli and style wizards to 700+ and 3D for all flight modes. All of my flight modes are identical at this time. I could have not used them but i am used to them in the iKon so...

Thanks Bob!

Did you set the head type too, you get to choose the Normal option for the Rush....no DFC for your heli right?. And go into Gov setup and make sure it says INH, it should say that by default.

Good luck, please let us know how it goes!

Yep! Normal head type.

Why Analog vs ESC on the throttle servo type?

Analog has a lower frame rate that most if not all ESCs will work fine on with no issues.
