That's probably OK unless you are going to a larger pinion. In that case, without an adjustable mount, the mesh will be too tight.

I totally vote for milling out slots in the aluminum mount. Since the main gear and pinion are both round, if the slots get crooked in any way, it won't hurt the rotation of the pinion/gear. As was mentioned in an earlier post, if the slots in the frame get messed up, it could cause the motor to not sit level with the main shaft and cause problems.

I would also bet the aluminum motor mount is way less expensive to replace than would be the side frame, if one or the other got messed up.

Default How are you guys adjusting the gear mesh on 500L

I'm currently building my 500L and the gear mesh is tight. Normally I can flip the main gear backwards to check the OWB. This gear will not budge IMO it's too tight. I can't believe Align went away from the adjustable mount!

My main shaft has just a touch of play with one main shaft spacer so I know it's not getting drag from the shaft.

Is the solution to widen the motor mount holes on the frame?

Also my lower bearing is falling out should I use green locktite on it so just leave it be?

Thanks!
