HaHa...... Well at least you are about as far away as you can get and still be on Earth.

Still, Dunedin and Invercargile are two "cities" (large towns really) further down country than we are here in Christchurch ...... so will I be safe from these blades of death if i sell up and move there? (lol) |

12-13 thousand miles? I'm sure that i've had heli parts go that far before! Although none have quite made it into orbit yet.

Tried to go for a test flight last night, found out fast that I had forgotten to charge the glow plug heater, so could not re-start after I stopped her the first time around.
She is hopping all over the place, not sitting level, which is not leaving me as happy as I could be. So, the next step for me is to re-check all link lengths to ensure she is correct (just brought some basic verniers for that), as right now I'm not happy with her head settings other than blade tracking, so thought starting from scratch will be a good idea! |

Chickened out on flying mine today, too windy. Then right before dark it calmed down so I flew a battery out with the 450. This is the only gripe that I have with nitro, takes too long to get them going sometimes.

I only live about 2-3 min from the park in my nitro vid, but was gone 40 min yesterday for no flying other than frustrating bouncing due to lack of head setup/stability. Think I need to invest in a flight box! Still .... that first flight test gave me a taste of what 'big' nitro is all about ....... AND I LIKE IT!!!!!! (this is me 'hooked' on em! ) |

Well I got in my fix and there was only one casualty.
Halfway thru my first flight the RX pack decided to take a nap. I had even load checked it just before the flight and it held 7.9V @ 1.5A. Fortunately the built in battery fail safe did its thing and the pack was the only casualty. That pack was only 5 years old. No Heads rolled. In the winter it is not even worth the effort to haul out all of the junk necessary to fly electric, nitro is a lot easier. The heli the flight box and the TX. With electric its the heli the TX the charger, box of spare packs 2 monster deep cycle batterys to power the charger, or the generator and power supply, and then the batteries don't like the cold. and I still need either my nitro flight box or a tool box to be able to work on everyone elses helies. That is why there will be both nitro and elec for a long time to come, they each have there pros and cons.

WELL .... I brought a cheap set of verniers to check the link lengths as I was a little dubious as to how they were ex factory re the unbalanced flight characteristics I was having ...... personally I'm glad I did, as they were all over the place!!!!
After going over the setup guide in the manual, and firstly being a little surprised that it showed the measured gap between the plastic ball links (ie the exposed amount of the steel connecting rod) vs a more accurate 'eye to eye' lenght, it all looks to have worked out. It took a while to get everything below the swashplate sorted and all servos re-centered as a result, I now just have to do flybar link lengths. I'm still thinking about the swash to blade links as blade tracking and level (previously adjusted by myself) was the only thing that was looking to be right, and as they say, if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!!! Still, tomorrow the remaining flybar/swash links, then, as soon as I get a good day, got to re-test the thing with a little more expo added on the transmitter as it was still too sensitive last time, and then I'll take it from there once that is done and I'm happy. At least there is a light at the end of this tunnel, and if not, there is a dude in town who can assist me in setup, but for a price!! |

Sounds like you have it figured out. You may have to adjust your tracking but the overall control should be improved. Is your swash level at half stick?

Blades/swash I'll leave as they are, as they are good currently with correct tracking, and based on my theory that I won't want to be changing them in relation to the swash's plain ..... as all I have changed so far only effects the actual plain of the swash plate currently, to which it looks all good now!! |

Well go pound on the weatherman's door and tell him/her to get you some proper weather.
I hate having a new toy ready to go and can't go play. Heads may have to roll............

Locally one might have the urge to go knocking on the door of "Hot Toni" for a number of reasons ..... let's just say her forecasting ability would not be one of them!!
As for heads rolling ...... are we going to go down that path again oh great 'slayer of the north'?? ...... lol PS Jeff, as the 'Gohbee Field Rep", have yuo tried out this new JS shark thing that Dave is stocking as of yet, if so, how's it going/perform? |

I will be ordering one as soon as I get my tax return. Around the middle of next month.
I should have all of the parts and have it flying by the end of Feb. I did get to fly one at Ircha and from what I could tell from just one flight, I LIKED IT!!!

I thought that Dave is selling the TZ Frenzy? The Shark is the all alloy one that I read a review of in one of the Mags. They said that it was a good sport flyer and that was all.
