Default Torque Tube To Belt Drive Nex E8 ????

Last night I set up the aurotation feature of Castle ESC, and today i did some testing. Everything went fine, and performed many full down autorotations without problem.

Though, the last one was BAAAANG, not great damage just the fron gears of the torque tube, btut availability is an issue. Anyway

I was thinking of converting the torque tube to belt drive, as i like it most, just for this reason. I even converted my Trex 500 esp to belt, just to do autos without fear, as i fly from gravel an autos are not always that smooth.

Do you think a conversion would be possible from Airskippers E8 that already uses belt ?

Thanks.

Been thinking about this issue of getting parts.
Today I bought a new complete new e8 kit to use as spares as Im fed up waiting on parts.

I been pondering the tail and reckon a trex 700e boom and tail would fit straight in with little modification to the talk tube length. Leaving it long may sort out the COG issues anyhow.

Next time when I have more time I may look into trex parts just to get me going.
Either way I suspose you still need the front gear to convert to belt......

Not sure on how the 700 font gears would suit but hey we need parts support for this heli..... I couldnt get all the parts required in Australia.

How was yr mesh on the tail?
Did you grease the gears

Id go to the Jr proposed website and check the parts on the airskipper to see if they fit.
Would be interesting they use the same from talk drive gear.

Isn't this a liitle expensive ? I mean getting a new kit, for just having just a pair of parts ? If you damage the skids, you ll only have one pair, then you should buy again.

Interesting idea about trex tail, but I bought Jr, to steer away from Align, so no trex tail for me.

I have thought of selling Nexs airframe and get an airskipper instead. I ll check in more depth though if we could take the belt system from airskipper to our nex.

Anyhow, parts are on their way, from rcjapan.

No point having a heli you can't fly if you can't get spares.........

I'm not waiting two or three weeks fir parts. I fly every weekend weather permitting.

For what it is it a pretty cheap kit really. So not to bad.
Considering most kit like closer to a grand.

So you had a rough auto landing and stripped the gears? A belt can strip teeth too, just something to keep in mind. EDIT: Did you try to bail out of throttle hold and strip the gear?

I ordered 2-3 of each spare part I figured I'd most likely need (torque tubes, tailboom, main shaft, spindle, tail shaft, etc.) so I wouldn't have a problem replacing out parts. I do this with all my kits.

www.rcjapan.net has all the parts or replacement parts you need and shipping is fast. I got my stuff here to the USA in 7 days with customs on regular shipping from them.

Never had a belt strip gears at any condition. I guess it needs to be really tight to strip them

No, I didn't try to bail out. It was a pilot error (decision) actually, and damn I was about to call it a day after landing. Anyway...

I ordered from Rc japan to, but they still process the order two days now.

the vibe 50 belt conversion kit should be compatible with the Nex/E8.

I do know a lot of the JR NEX 50 Vibe parts are the same as the JR NEX E8, after all, it is essentially its electric counterpart...

The assembly converting the rotation of the lower main gear to the torque tube is the same on the Vibe 50 and on the Vibe Nex 50. So you should be able to use it on the NEX/E8.

There is a Vibe 50 belt kit, but it is not available in the U.S. You'll have to order it from Europe. It's expensive about $150. I went through the same thing. I came to the conclusion I could buy a bunch of gears for much less than $150, and after a little practice, I found I haven't stripped the gears in quite awhile.
