Your timing should be set @ 8* on a Scorpion/Castle setup

I run my timing on low, but night flyer is correct in terms of the 8deg since this is what is on the website specs. But I remember castle saying to run timing on low for scorpion motors. I think the deg vary with different esc

I run my 520 on LOW timing with a 160. Scorpion motors will get a little extra warm...it's what they do.

Saw you asked about PWM as well...and that's going to be more motor specific. 8kHz is probably okay for what you've got. I run 16kHz on the 520. Like I said, that's more of a motor specific value.

What are the signs that your Drive Frequency is set correctly or not ?
I have tried both 8 and 12 on the 4525 520 Ultimate and could really tell any difference...
Time 5 and 4 and saw the same heat, around 80*C avg. in the ESC and around 100*C on the coils in the motor, any comments?

I just changed my PWM to 8 and timing to 18 on my YGE. Originally, I had the timing at 8 and it got hot - I selected the lowest timing I could by mistake.

You can not set acctual degrees timing on a castle ESC. Castle sets its timing based on what it senses from the motor. Then gives you a 'window" to change in. So 8* on a YGE does not correlate to 8 timing on a Castle.

+1

When Scorpion gives timing specs, that is wrt their own ESC's. I am not sure (and in the case of CC I'm sure) that different manufacturers' even agree on what the timing specification in degrees really pertains to. May not even be the same quantity, so I'd say be careful about blindly following these timing specs.

I'll go further to say that timing specs are probably coming from the ESC manufacturer. If that ESC says 8 degrees, then put 8 degrees on that ESC. But don't assume another ESC is the same at all.
