Question What product has replaced the MCPX?

Hey all

I'm looking at buying a new helicopter to replace the 2 Skyartec Wasp Nano CPX's I've got, neither of which are serviceable right now due to crashes and lack of parts. So, I thought that seeing as so far my 2nd hand MCPX v2 has been bulletproof I'd buy another Blade heli, so that I can use it with my Spektrum DX6i.

Trouble is I know the MCPX and MCPX BL have been retired, but apart from the Nano CPS (which I'm not keen on as it's even smaller than the MCPX) I can't seem to find out what, if anything, has replaced the MCPX!

Anyone here know?

TIA

The mCPX v1/v2 was replaced by the mCPX BL...and subsequently the AH-64

The stock mCPX was easily the most reliable heli that HH ever made, but no direct replacement has ever been done

And that right there has to be the stupidest thing HH has done.
A superb little heli, crash-tolerant, very nimble and easy to upgrade.

So, I'm guessing besides the Nano CPS if want an MCPX equivalent I'm going to have to look elsewhere and I won't be able to bind whatever I get to my Spektrum DX6i?

Not at all...the mCPX and mCPX BL are both very much alive and available...even if you want to build one from scratch...

The 130X is in the same situation, but still very much available as well

And all of them will bind to the DX6i

I found a brand new mcpx bl at a local hobby store for $159. Been thinking about getting it... you can still get them or build them. The bay is a good spot.

Ah ok. I've been told that the 130x is not quite as durable as the MCPX v2, and it's a little bigger, I'm looking for something about as small as the MCPX v2.

If I were to build a MCPX BL from scratch what parts from a MCPX v2 could I use?

Could I get away with just buying the 2 MCPX BL motors, an MCPX BL 3 in 1 board MCPX BL frame and tail boom assembly and the landing gear, and then use everything else from my MCPX v2?

EDIT - having just totalled up the cost of parts (in the region of £110) I think I might be wasting my time doing that, I could buy another couple of Skyartec Wasp Nano CPX's for that price!

As annoying as it is having two transmitters and a pair of rather breakage prone Skyartec helicopters I think I'll just repair my 2 Skyartec Wasp Nano CPX's and forget about getting another Blade helicopter.

The AlignTrex Stores website is saying they still have mCPX BL's in stock.
Their ad is on the main home page.

I generally like to buy them used, for less than $100 you usually get a less than perfect heli that has spares and an aluminum swash, i make the rest myself to fix some of the short comings. I generally make the solid tail boom, wire harness, reinforce the frame, add heat sinks, plasidip the inside of a canopy and fly the snot out of it.

As far as using v2 parts and upgrading to a bl there are not many parts that you would want to use. They all fit but are less durable than the bl counter parts. The only thing worth keeping is the main frame from the v2 if you decide that you want a out runner motor later on your bl because its bigger in the motor area and can be made to fit a lager motor with out going for the expensive after market frames.

I also find the bl to be more durable than the v2, the head is beefier and the motor does not cog as hard, it rare that i break a main gear with the bl, the v2 breaks almost every time on mine, same with the skids.

Wow! Yes they do. Actually I guess I wasn't looking hard enough as I was under the impression the BL had been discontinued also and wasn't likely to be around except as 2nd hand.

AlignTrex also have the Apache listed on their site as being available, I will have to find some reviews of it and see if it's any good because it's only £5 more than the MCPX BL (although both are on offer at the moment)!

just my 2 cents but I would look at jumping up to the 180 blade and it will bind to dx6i. I fly with a guy that has one and I had bought a 130 and wish I would have waited and got the 180 I think that have corrected the tail issues on the 180. I have the mcpx v2 and enjoy flying it once in awhile but starting to get away from my smaller helis more and more. But I still enjoy getting them out.
