Alright, I had to jump on the helidirect 10% off sale. I was debating between this Heli and a guitar amp. Then a friend had a heart attack. I said screw it and got both. Life is so short.

Me too . I have a vibe 50 years ago. Loved it

EDIT: I had a Vibe 50, years ago. Not a Vibe, 50 years ago

Also... any recommendations for servo arms for BLS 451 servos?

Thanks!

Awesome... thanks! Ordered the arms... helidirect has the hubs on back-order.

So, sitting here I have a Pyro 700-50, a Pyro 700-45, and a Scorp 4525-520.

In my Diabolo, I have a Pyro 750-50 which I'm kind of in love with.

Any opinions on what I should drop in the Forza? Wondering if I should sell off the 3 motors and grab another 750-50 or 750-45... maybe even a competition series. I'm not fond of the heat generated by the Scorps.

I'm stuck with 12S for now. And using a JIVE 120HV. Im not interested in going 160 or 200. My other 120HV is working flawlessly in my Diabolo.

One of ours is at 11 1/2 lbs and the other is at about 12 1/2. The heavier one had a bigger motor and esc with a lot more power. We have a kde 700-535 on the light one with a 120 esc and the other has a kde 700-505 motor and a 160 esc. Both fly awesome. The 505 has just absolute brute power so it handles the weight fine. We run 716 blades on that one and 696 on the other. Both setups work great.

The Forza 700 is average weight for this size heli.

With 716 rails
XNova 4530-525kv
kosmik 160
4 x MKS HVBLS servos,
700mah LiFe buffer pack
canopy
2x4400/6S 60C lipos = 5.3-5.4kg..

If you go revo's 5000/6Sx2 you add ~ 200g (5.5kg) and 4400/7Sx2 it ~250g (5.55kg)

You can quickly cut some weight with different motor as the XNova is 535g, Kosmik is around 250g with cables. Metal case servo and about 10-20g per servo compared to the plastic covered equivilants and do away with the buffer pack ~ 70g..

Say a Scorpion 4525Ult is about 450g, Jive Pro 150g (with cables), plastic or lighter servos and no buffer pack with same 4400/6S revos you will end up saving about 250-300g. So you can get the heli down near the 5kg as per some of the marketing specs, if you use lighter components.

Opinions on 520 vs 500 vs 450kV for smooth flying on 12S?

Need to know your target rpm and the kv will choose itself unless you want to start buying different pinions.

What head speed to you normally use?

Default Forza 700 Quality

In my Diabolo I'm running 1500-1900 and having a blast. I'm hoping I won't lose a ton of grunt if I choose a 450 kV. Maybe the 450kV competition would be the way to go? Get the low kV grunt back.

If your using the stock pinion (11t = 10.18 gear ratio) 450kv with Kosmik/Jive gov will give you 1300-1750. A 12t pinion will put you in your ideal range (with 450kv motor) of 1450-1900. Using the stock gearing (11t pinion) with 500kv motor will also give you the rpm range you are after.

Can anyone compare the Pyro 750 against an XNova? Opinions? Power delivery smoothness, temps, power comparisons?

All you need to know is they are both excellent motors, efficient and tons of power >10kw.. Unless your building a competition speed heli. you will have more than enough power.

Power delivery? That will be determined by the quality of the governor on either your ESC or FBL unit.. Smoothness, they are electric motors they are all smooth.

I wouldnt be worried about motor temps. with the amount of power the motors can draw you need to be worried about your ESC temps. Again this will differ greatly from pilot to pilot and how they fly the heli.. Unless your a sports pilot in which case you could use a 120amp ESC, the bare min. should be 160amp.. If your a speed freak 200 amp kosmik or 320amp YGE.

I've been using a JIVE 120 HV in my Diabolo with a 750-50... rarely hit 120A and ESC temps are normally 120-140F... handles it just fine Data from JLog and Jeti telemetry logs.

I have a Pyro 700-52 and a Pyro 700-45... I might just try them initially.

Given that the Forza 700 is similar weight to the Diabolo you can expect similar temps and amp draws from the Forza 700..

The Pyro 700's are nice motors, but lack the top end grunt of the 750. If your not smacking the heli around the Pyro 700 should do the job..

If ANY 700 heli goes in under power anything and everything can break.

Its a toss of a coin when it comes to crashes. Sometimes the most innocent looking crashes can give you a massive repair bill, other more violent endings, you can walk away with just a skids and blade damage..

Started my build tonight. Quality definitely very high!

One problem so far. The ball in my swash is very very stiff. Not the butter smooth JR swash I'm used to. Anyone else have this problem? It's going to load the servos and motor a lot as is.

Im sorry but the small amount of resistance increase in nothing for a 700 size electric motor. The resistance increase due to the stiff swash is minute compared to the torque and forces the motor has to overcome in the air..

As for the servos, the slight increase in load on them is but nothing they cant handle.. The forces they deal with in flight are far far greater..

Ive built many 700 kits and most of the good helis have tight tolerances, start with stiff swashes.. Id rather a stiff swash with 0 slop than a smooth swash which is loose and sloppy..

Just build the heli and go fly it... Its a joy to fly.

I just test flew mine for the first time today and its very quiet and smooth. Max. amp spike from the servos with my "Stiff" swash was 6amp.. Average draw ~3amps... (MKS HV BLS950's)..
