Default Nitro Setup and Operation Videos

There have been a few requests for various videos on nitro heli setups and operations. And since Finless is busy with so many projects, I figured I would jump in and start doing some videos.

So first up is balancing the fan hub and dial indicating the fan hub video. I also included a bit on using a crank locking tool. Hope this helps.
VIDEO LINK -> Dial Indicating a Vibe fan and hub (56 Megs)

UPDATES 2/2009

VIDEO LINK -> Fuel systems and fueling (77 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> What to do AFTER flying (52 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> Nitro Operation and Starting (25 Megs)

Later other videos will be added on other parts of Nitro Heli Operations.

Thanks Pinecone.

I think it would help if you showed how you tap the fan assembly with a hammer.

I purchased a Dial Indicator and stand from Harbor Freight a few years back, so now I'll get the fun of actually using it. LOL.

Hey, I know this is a Finless thing, but it would actually be nice to get a shot of your Mug and Bob's on these videos, so that those of us who don't know ya'll personally can ID you at an event if the opportunity arises. Or, just hang a Pinecone around your neck, and I might be able to figure it out. ;-)

Cheers!

Bob mentioned the same thing. I will do an addendum video to show tapping. I have to pull my engine to do it. And it is hard to hold the camera and tap.

But it is a TAP, you are just trying to gently more the hub. MUCH better to have to tap 20 times to get it right than to hit it too hard and bend the crankshaft.

If you have a collet setup, you can also try pulling the thing apart and rotating the parts.

Good deal man. I asked for this a little while back. I have since learned how to dial indicate the a fan, (dial indicated my Vibe .50 fan hub down to .0005 today). Haven't balanced one yet, saw a buddy completely massacre a fan the other day. Looked like a cheeze grader when he finished. I will definately be watching this video series.

Another one here all for the fuel vid.
I need it might be basic but it would be great to see fuel up,starting and then best way to stop engine and drain.I have heard several different ways you must leave motor untill next flying session.

I'd like to add my thanks too, Pinecone. Also as a very new pilot (about 1 month) I too would love to see some very basic things if you or anyone would have the time. Such as setting the needle's, proper starting, ect.

All of these video's have been very useful to me. Thanks again.

I just hope Piney is not a "flash in the pan" with one video and will get some more kicked out soon

Sorry Piney.... Welcome to the world of good videos that people want!
