Default First 450 build servo question.....

First 450 heli and I plan on using it to learn the basics. Nothing advanced yet.

I picked up 4 of these servo's thinking I would used them for cyclic and the tail. However after doing allot more reading I see most people run different servo's on the tail than they do the cyclic. Any reason for this?

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dproduct=10976

also, can I use 4 digital servo's at once? It seems most people just use digital on the tail.

Thanks
Dan

A good gyro and tail servo make a huge difference in tail performance and ease of flying especially for a beginner. So most like to go with tail specific servo that's made to work in conjunction with a gyro.

Short answer is yes.
But you need to consider the ESC's internal BEC's capability because in most cases digital servo's will draw more amperage than similar analogs. An external BEC can be run with for higer amp rating and better cooling.

I always use digitals all the way around.
I buy 4 and use the same kind on the tail as the cyclic servos.
I look at it like - I buy 4 tail servos, and happen to use them on the cyclic too.

That's not the best way to go, I hear. One day my flying skills will improve to
the point where it makes a difference. My challenges don't lie with getting
a tail that holds good. And my next build will have one of the larger tail servos
like a S9257 or such. So I'm not poo-poo-ing the special tail servo route but
it's not strictly necessary. As long as it's digital and is of decent speed it will work fine.

What one hears on this board is good advice as far as tail servos go.
But I'm not into a $60.00 tail servo at the moment.

Getting a tail that holds with no drift is the objective regardless of what you use.
Just somtimes it's easier to get there using a tried and true setup.
