8 good flights on the warp today at the local club (&4 in my driveway before hand) I think I changed a lot of people's perspectives on what a 450 can do and how well it can fly. There was a lot of interest in what it was who makes it and where can I buy one etc....

The more confident I get with the warp the harder I have been flying it and it just keeps impressing me more and more. It's the first time I have built a heli that feels so locked in, like it is on rails. Just point and shoot and it does it without any hesitation. With over 30 flights on it now I'm loving it. I've never been able to do climbing aileron tic tocs before but the warp climbs without any issue, I've had to tighten it up a bit to hold my line.

We have a heli fun fly at our club next weekend so can't wait to get out there and show off my new favourite heli, I might even let a few people take it for a spin. The TDR can just sit on the grass and look pritty, I can't see it getting much air time.

Think I found the limit to the amount of wind that the Warp and bX like to fly in. It was blowing steady around 35mph gusting up to 45. Flew well enough, but landing was tricky. A side in hover to the wind put the heli at a good 30 degree angle

Took the warp to a fun fly along with my TDR, I had both on the bench setting them up when a bloke came past and said that the frame looked a lot like a TDR. I pointed to my TDR which didn't have the canopy on and said "like that". He replied "no like a TDR". I had to laugh to myself.

The club had a rule that you had to have bronz wings to fly solo at the event so after flying for 5 years I finally took the test. It was very windy but because the warp flys so well I used it for the test. Aced it first go.

With how perfect the warp was flying it encouraged me to spend some time with the TDR to get it to fly as well. I now have 2 very nice flying helis. I still chose to fly the warp the most for the weekend though, I lost count of how many flights I had. Lol.

Huh. I am new to this hobby but really? What are they called, the narcissists? Surely there is a soccer field nearby you could fly a Warp at.

Park flier rules in Australia are fairly tough. The warp doesn't meet any of the requirements.

An aircraft is considered to be a Park Flier for the purpose of this MOP if its size weight and power are ALL less than the following maximum criteria: Electric Power only.
Rotor
Wing Span Weight
Wing Loading Power Rating Battery
700mm overall (Helis/Gyros) 1220mm (48in) (Fixed Wing) 1kg (1000gm) (36oz)
41.7 gm/dm (0.83oz in2) 250watts
2s LiPo 7.4V 1000mah (30C), 1500mah (20C) 2000 mah (15C)
3s LiPo 11.1V 1000mah (20C)

I fly at the club normally without wings but a big event with a lot of people chances are a lot higher that if something goes wrong the club could be liable even though I'm insured to fly.

We had 2 helis end up with in 1 meter of the pits at the event, not mine. Things can go wrong no matter what size gear you fly or how good you are. It pays to cover your arse and play by the rules. If you don't damages claimed against you could be huge, with a warp if you hit someone you could expect upwards of $15000 to cover medical Los of income etc and were talking minor injury. Hit them harder surgery may be required then we could be talking $50000 and up. If you do any permanent disability to them you may as well kiss your life goodbye, cars, house and assets will go for sure, bankruptcy, and 7 years of not being allowed to even own a big screen tv let alone have a fleet of helis in the garage.

Wow. I would think only three kinds of people would be a "park flyer"; the wealthy, the stupid and the experts. Like I said, go find a vacant lot - perhaps the outback?

Very interesting, thanks for the description.

Been busy rebuilding the warp from the tail to the motor, now that the parts have arrived. Hope to maiden at the weekend.
Initial spool up in the kitchen was promising with none of that motor resonance and almost no vibes!!

You sure did a great job building it that Warp looks very nice. I considered running my wires behind the servo as you did but I typically run strain relief on my builds so I ran the wires over the side then through. I don't like how it looks though. I might go ahead run my aile servo wires like you did. That Warp looks cherry I am sure your flight will go great

It caught my eye initially too but I wasn't 'feeling' the skulls. They looked more like pumpkins or balloons to me. Would love to see a picture of it on the Warp. Please post when you get it together! Color scheme is great!

After a long break the Warp's back in action and the maiden went well today. No more twitching or bad vibes, can't wait to get back out in calmer conditions. 30 to 40 gusts are on the limit of the warpmeister.

What did you do with your warp 360 this month... ?

I took it to Whittier Narrows and flew it, along with my 6HV and my Trex 550E upgraded with a Compass head!

Eight flights in all-now recovering and charging batteries.

I intend to go out again tomorrow, but bring the 7HV instead of the Trex.
