Default 3GX 4.0 DSMX Binding

Hi All,

I'm having a problem binding a 3GX in DSMX mode. Its on a 550, with two DSMX Spektrum Satellites.

Firstly, I want to make sure I'm following the right procedure:
1.Select DSMX in the radio (DX8)
2.Install bind plug in 3GX
3.Press and hold Set Button on 3GX
4.Power up 3GX (Both Sats blink quickly)
5.Release Set Button
6.Bind to TX
7.Remove bind plug

When I try binding in DSMX mode, both satellites blink, but after binding, only one satellite powers up with a solid light. When binding into DSM2 mode, both satellites power up with solid lights...

Any suggestions?

Yes, try removing bind plug before binding eg. Do step 7 before step 6.

Not working for me either. I have DSMX selected for frame rate but shows DSM2 on my tx. I've had no issues so not really concerned.

I don't remember having to press and hold Set button on 3GX when binding. I just plug in binding plug to 3GX and power up to get the satellites in binding mode.

And after bind it(3GX and satellites) to the Transmitter, I power off the 3GX by removing the battery, as well as power cycle transmitter and remove the binding plug from 3GX while powered off before power everything back up to check.

In the 3gx setup wizard it specifically says, and shows, you have to hold the Set button, while powering up without the Tx on. This is to select Dsmx.
Not pushing the Set button (default) is dsm2

Strange how you did not, nameci

That explains why(DSMX binding procedure).

I have not bounded them to DSMX transmitter as I have sold my DX8 a while ago in favor of my X9303 which is DSM2 only.

Ahhh, that'll be it

-edit- ....and thinking about it, that's maybe why you aren't getting the cyclic twitching/jumps?

Maybe.

I wonder if DSMX support is not fully ironed out by Align...

BTW, what transmitter are you using? If DX8, you may want to get transmitter checked out. Check your transmitter in monitor mode and see if transmitter is sending signal and causing twitching servos.

Ya, on my Helicommand hc3sx there is debate whether the dsmx protocol is actually supported also. Even though HC say it is? People seem to be reporting intermittent glitches running just Sats. Goes away with an ex Rx.

I'm using a dx8, soon to be a dx9.

Its only 1yr old and not in the recall batch.
Re calibrated gimbals and no twitching in the monitor screen either.

Default 3GX 4.0 DSMX Binding

A quick update:

The 550 isn't mine, I was setting it up for a buddy. No luck binding DSMX to a DX8.

Got home, and tried my 450DFC with my own DX8. Followed my procedure above, and it bound properly first try..

I'm running firmware 3.0 on my DX8, and my buddy is running 2.04 (I think. Whatever the last version of 2 was). Could that be one of the issues?

I'm still 2.04, Kim and bound dsmx

I did have to stand 2m away when binding though. Trying any closer and it wouldn't bind correctly

I had the same difficulty binding my 3GX but here is how I was able to make it work. Set 11ms & DSMX on my DX7S - unplugged both Sats from the 3GX and plugged one each into my RX - Went thru the TX to Rx binding process with both Sats - Plugged both Sats back into the 3GX - Powered up the 3GX while holding the SET button (with Bind plug in place) - removed the binding plug after getting fast blinking lights - unplugged LiPo and powered down - reattach LiPo and tested to ensure connectivity. Done.

Just followed the steps up above. Now to solve my tail wag issue on rudder movements. No hunting or wagging until rudder input.

I am having the same issue right now

So when you refer to RX you are saying plug the Satts into a Spektrum receiver? If that's the case I don't have one so wonder how I can overcome this issue?

Found out what it was.... you need to hold down the set button on the 3GX unit while you apply power and then bind as normal DSMX shows up on my radio now all is good.
