Default 80HV or 120 HV for 12S

Building 600SE. Have not bought motor or ESC, yet. Readyheli suggests Jive 120HV if running 12S. However I see others post they are running Jive 80HV and doing this with 10S set ups. With 12S drawing less amps will 80HV be sufficient? Is a heat sink a good idea?

Leaning towards a Scorpion 4035-500
Edge 693 mains

More big air and less 3D is my flying style.

I have just flown my Logo 500 with the 4035-500 on 12S running 2250 rpm on a HV80.
The controller is luke warm after flight and the motor worm but not to hot, most possible 40-45C.
Now your going to run it on 693s instead of 550s loading the motor more but the motor is onely rated to 84A continues current and with heatsing the HV80 can take alot more.
I have been running the 4025-1100 on 6S on mine and flown it as hard as i can without issues and i have met the overcurrent protection running 35% throttle at a climbout.
I have allso run the same motor on 12S unintentially and met the thermal protection in the ESC.
The Jives are some quality controllers that can take alot more punishment then they are rated for.

Hi im running Pyro-700 45LS and Jive80HV, I can't seen heatsink for 80HV. you mean a DIY heatsink? btw 80HV is enough for 690 blades or 120HV is best?

I have both 10S and 12S lipos

For a 12S set-up on the Logo 600SE, go with the 450kv motor. The 500kv is a good 10s motor for the heli, and keeps the head speed "in-bounds" (remember, the "SE" has from Mikado a stated 1800 head speed limit, but many stretch that to 1900 and get by OK).

The 500kv motor on 12S would required you to run deeper partial throttle settings to keep the head speed under control, which the Jives handle well...but I think the "proper" motor for 12S on the 600SE is something in the 450kv range.

If you ever plan on possibly using the ESC for a 12S "true 700" heli (like say a T-Rex 700, Shrimok, TDR, Shape, Rave...name one), then get the 120. If you're staying with the "SE", and with your stated flying style of "big air, less 3D", then the 80 should be fine.

I'm running an 80HV in my 600SE with a 4035-400 motor on 12s. The heli is smooth and has plenty of power running 80% across the board on idle up 2 which nets me 1820<> head speed.

Even down here in the Florida heat the ESC comes down warm at the worst doing big air sport.

Knock... Knock... on wood

I have never had a hint of a problem

yup I've got the same setup (CC 80HV, 4035-400)
the ESC became warm in the beginning, but that was because my pinion was too large. Now I'm using 12T and all is fine.

80HV on 12S is more then enough, but make sure your gearing and Kv is ok.

??? Mikado's Mod 1.0 10T pinion comes in 5mm shaft size only. The Kontronik 700-45 motor has a 6mm shaft. If this is your situation, you're going to need a new pinion anyways.

Hi khyle, This is my first ever Mikado,Running also Full size Vbar pro, everything is fine, really love this heli. One thing,I worried is pinion. My friend gives me the wrong Pinion its 10T. Anyway i don't have any idea for Pinion's setup for Logo's. What would you recommend for 10S and 12S? Confused about the 12S. its stated in manual and specs of logo that 10S is recommended, but seen many people talking about 12S
