Unhappy My collective is SOOO mushy HELP PLEASEE

I was flying my HK500GT in my driveway today...

I have an Align 500L motor with a HK 70-80 amp speed controller.
(has anyone used this before? it was acting kind of squirrelly... there wasn't any difference between 90% throttle and 100%)

I have Turnigy 3317 servos on the cyclic... 3kg/cm of torque and .14 speed.

The collective felt really mushy when I would try to pump it. It was honestly hard to fly because the collective was My first guess is that the servos are crap and dont have enough torque. my second would guess that the plastic mixing arms (they are the align plastic arms) are flexing. I have more faith in the plastic mixing arms than the servos though...

I tried to watch the servos when I pumped it. They seemed sluggish to move up.

Will the HS-82MG be okay replacements? I am not big at 3D and don't really need digitals. Just more sport flying.

If yes, does anyone have a set of three 82mg's that they want to sell...

Thanks everyone!

Mike

cheap servos maybe.

could be low headspeed as well.

Headspeed?? Sounds maybe like a low headspeed issue. Is it bogging on the punches? You might have a battery issue or the like. I have had the same issue with my heli on a real cold day. The pack ended up getting cold and didn't have the voltage to turn the head at speed.

The servos may or may not be the culprit in this case. If it was flying fine before, then it may be something else.

EDIT: I just reread the OP, and it looks like servos to me! Reading in a wonderful tool!

Today was cold but I had the battery in my house and plugged it right in. I have 12/-12 on the pitch. I am running a 12T pinion with 3000mah 6s. It seemed like my headspeed was okay, but it was only the second flight I have flown it.

Does anyone know how the HS82's would work? I dont really want to have to buy three 60 dollar servos. I just want to fly and have some decent response. Today was pitiful. I would give it full up, it would rise slowly then faster, really mushily, then i would try to stop it from rising and drop the collective, and it would drift down, and I couldn't stop the downward drift without pumping full up collective. It was annoying.

I dont think it was bogging.

My tail was also being obnoxious. The Align RCE-550 is junkk.

I know you dont want to put a ton of money into electronics but you put bad in you get bad out. [as your finding out the hard way] sucks i know i did it when i started.

Im running 9650's with MG's added so its not $75 a pop like the JR servo i wanted but it was all of $65. the heli flys so sweet though. you dont have to go that expensive but if you cheap out once more you could have had the best to start with throwing small amounts of cash at it 2 or 3 times trial and error.

I would find out a cheap alternative but i would only get a proven servo that more then 1 person is flying successfully. also watch the classifieds and make your next purchase count. youll thank me later.

also try 13t, 12t is a little weak on the stock motor

yes that gyro is junk. get a used 401 at minimum or a 2100T

82,s are the new better 81's. i thought [if i remember rite] finless flew the 81's for like a week or two and found them to be a little weak but they did work.

buy some used good servos and bypass those

If you have not bought them yet I would not get S9650's. Try these ones:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6756. I have those gears in my Futaba's and it works great.

Another nice, yet cheap option is to get Align/ Savox servo's. Great value!

Can you post a video of your heli? Perhaps you think your headspeed is ok even though it's a bit low. Also your flybar and paddles make a huge difference and your cyclic %'s might also be low.

The best upgrade though: a proper heli

HS-225MG servos are good bang for the buck. Analog vs Digital is the main diff btwn them and the 5245s. Way better than the 82mg IMO.

I was on a 12T, Align 500L motor and 6s battery. I swapped the pinion out with a 13T.
