I mounted it on the side of the frame as it did not fit on the gyro tray. But you may be able to mill out the frames.

lefthand side of frame, just above the lower mounts of the boom support rods.
did not need to lengthen ANY of the servo wires, liked where ant exits, used one layer of 3M thin gray foam

If you flip the standard gyro tray you don't gain any extra space but Outrage have just released a CNC gyro tray which, by virtue of its design, means that you can flip it and effectively lower the gyro by approx 5mm (at a guess). Outrage claim that the CNC tray also helps reduce vibes getting to the gyro.

I made an ally one to replace the bit of useless plastic that sits where a proper gyro tray should sit. You can just get it to sit in the middle away from the sideframes. It's a bit of a job then to get to the bind plug etc so I made extensions and have them sit up front on the lower electronics plate. Also brought the ESC out to there too so I can get to it to program the CC if needed.

I just mouneted it in the normal spot on the gyro tray it fit perfectly. It has only a small clearance between the frames but its not touching.

yeah i built it for a freind i have had to tweak the esc a few times and getting that plug in and out is a PAIN lol but once its setup it wont need anything so who knows he may install one later lol

also if you use a very small flat head like a 1mm across jewelers screwdriver you can just push the pot around instead of using a bigger screw driver.
