Default Best/Easiest 130X Tail Servo Replacement

So after well over 180 flights (and about a dozen crashes including todays), my stock tail servo is buzzing and not moving correctly.

I'm pretty sure it's hosed so I want to replace it.

I know a lot of them were replaced with a standard eFlite or Lynx servos but I'm looking for an easy swap without spending a ton (since the heli is discontinued).

What do the 130X gurus recommend these days?

Wow, I did not know that I must be lucky. What are the mounting options for the ds76t - got a new 130x coming that will need a decent tail servo.

The ds76t mounts on the lefts side of the tail boom. Opposite of the ds883 mounting position. I have two 130x's with ds883 servo's and so far they have been great far better then the stock linears. Good luck finding those though. Better to go with the eflite servo since it will be produced for a good while.

danb, what servo mounts are those?

Also, do they work without any issues?

Default 130x Red Bull Conversion

I used the Walkera WK-03-4 to make the changeover on a 130X Red Bull. Great little servo. Choose a mount style and solder the original connector onto the new servo - make any needed adjustments to your gain settings on the helicopter itself and your in business.

I have two 130X, both rotary build. On one I have a hitec setup with a DS76T tail, the other one has a complete Microheli servo setup with an MH-DS002S on the tail. Both setups work great. The DS76T is a bit crisper, but both tails hold really well!

Just ordered the microheli tail servo, curious to check it out.

Thanks guys. I ended up ordering the OEM as I want to sink as little money into this as possible since it is discontinued.

If I get another 180+ flights I'll be happy.

Using the stock linear servo mount is possible, chop it in half and you can use the two pieces for a rotary servo. That's what I did initially, then bought a proper mount. Maybe one day I'll fix the 130x up

Let us know if that DS35 works ok.
Eflite screwed it up by changing the circuitry in the servo, this caused a problem with tail hold.

This is a well documented problem with the latest DS35's.

Hope you got an older one.

OneMuscleRussel - In case you need the info, here's a thread that explains how to tell whether you have an old style or a new style DS35.

FYI - How to identify good old DS35 from bad new version with wag

Hi,

I almost had said that there is a new tail servo available: Lynx LX3005
h0988UHS-i

But now as I recheck the spec on their homepage https://www.lynxheli.com/product_inf...afbe7294f00c07, I recall that it is only made for 760µs.

So if you have a rotary frame with any more modern custom FBL (µBrain, µSpirit, etc.) which support a true 760µs tail configuration, you are good to go and test this alternative.

With my Walkera V120D02s heli (I originally wanted to "custom build" it and make it Spektrumized with Tarot ZYX-s) I have e.g the problem of the proper servohorn length, right ball head diameter, control push rod...and therefore I cannot find an easy tail servo replacement solution.
All mechnical parts need to match well.

@CREATURE

Maybe I should simply get the WK03-4 tail servo again for my V120d02sw and try it on a much lower digital setting than 333Hz (e.g 214/240Hz)? :-)

I had not any good tail hold and got a quick blow out in wind outdoors and the Tarot ZYX simply did not allow me choose a proper HeadingHold gyro value of anything more than +12-14 gain which is quite low.

It actually hovered once with that tail gyro gain indoors...but you cannot compare that to my Blade 4503D and DS76T or H3060 tail servos and much higher gyro gain values

I just finished the DS76T upgrade and now wish I had done it years earlier. The servo mounts are not cheap and I had to order them from the USA after some assistance from guys on here via another thread. My comment on that thread was that I had NOT used my deoxit for about 3 weeks. Fantastic.
