Chargers, Chargers, and more chargers!!!
JUst wanted to see what everyone else is using for Li-Po charging aside from less than adequate 'factory' chargers. Am looking at getting a good hopefully low priced charger for mostly 3s packs but would also love to have adaptability for other battery sizes. My daughter has a ton of 1s for her heli and has had no problems with the Celectra charger she has, but it is ageing a bit and I think she is ready for a bigger heli anyways, so I thought now is the time (plus that gives me a perfectly good exusse for the wife to authorize the purchase ) I am looking at a few but have been focused on this one the most ---> http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html Has anybody used this one or a similar one? What are you guys using? Links and/or pics would be great help too!!

Looks a lot like mine. Only mine charges more then 3 types of batteries like nimh and such. I Paid 65 bucks for mine. It is great because mine came with all the hook ups needed like that one there. Buying leads after the fact can get pricey. Only thing is it did not have any that would work with Blade Heli's. Be it micro or bigger. So you will have to solder up some leads. I still am charging my 1s lipos on my Celectra MSR and MCPX chargers though. I just use my balancing charger for my Gen ace 800 3s 20c batteries. Seem to do the job and the charger even has a auto charge feature to stupid proof the process.

I use two of these chargers: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=7028
on this power supply: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...00v_120v_.html I LOVE this setup. The chargers have the balance connections built in so don't have to worry about carrying or misplacing those. I can charge 2 3s batteries at once, or 3 mcpx (balanced) and 1 3s at once. Or 6 mcpx balanced at once.

Im running an Ecopower Electron 65 AC/DC from Amainhobbies.com for 49$ it's MUCH better then the factory charger and it does what i need it to. Balance, discharge, storage charge, fast charge, ect..ect.. I dont mind waiting 2 hours to charge 4 batteries.

Oops, I left my secret light in there.. Thats actually my discharge light. For a long time imax b6 was my only charger and it would discharge at some pitiful rate, where as the 2 lights discharge at around 10amps or so. In case I crash and can't get through all of my batteries, I use that because I don't like storing them with full charge. You have to manually watch the cell voltages closely while doing this as you don't want to over discharge the battery. With 2 lights, I can take a fully charged 2200mah battery down to 3.85v/cell in about 15minutes. The battery does not heat up at all, and the rate 3x slower than if you were flying, so it's safe for the battery.
Anyway, total cost for my setup is listed in that thread. $50 for the 200watt charger from hobbypartz.com and $17 in parallel charge cables. I already had the power supply, tool box, and assorted 4mm banana sockets and plugs so both the 200watt sky charger, and the 50watt imax b6 can be hooked up at the same time. But if you were to buy those (PS, and various plugs), it would be less than $20. I also use one of the 5V leads from the PS for an additional fan that I can hook up, although the PS and charger both already have internal fans.

not bad really. And why have I never thought of using a light bulb in that way. It's amazing the simple things you never think of, I guess. Being a mechanic, I got tons of those laying around. I'm gonna still that idea if-in ya dont mind.
