On my mis machined head assembly these are the measurements I had.

First the overall length of the spindle measures =110mm
the head block with the dampers installed= 44.52mm
each grip with the thrust bearing stack correctly installed= 33.90mm for each grip.
So if you add up the 2 grips and the headblock with dampers you get 112.32mm
minus the spindle of 110mm= 2.32mm. Way too much compression for the 2 face o-rings on the dampers.

The replacment Grips when the thrust bearing stack was installed = 33.15mm +/- 0.10mm
