Default Servo Problem

During my preflight just now I realized something is up with my aileron servos. I've only had my CP Pro 2 for a week now and have had very few crashes. When I put in full right aileron stick deflection I can hear one of the servo motors continuing to run. It sounds like plastic teeth scraping against each other. The heli still flies fine but I'm sure this is something that needs to be repaired. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on? Could this have been caused from a crash or could this be a servo malfunction that might be covered under warranty?

I am having the same problem with my CP+. When I power down, the right servo is locked in the up position and makes that same sound. It will also jolt mid flight. Is this interference using the stock 73mhz Rcx/Tx? Any help is appreciated!

Unfortunately, you both have stripped gears in the servo. Quite easy to change and the gears are cheap. There is a quick How-To somewhere - let me know if you can't find it, and I will post a link...

Tip: Paper-clip mod reduces the frequency of stripped gears.

Changing servo gears can be found here...

Just keep in mind that the final output gear (the one that the servo goes on) has an orientation to it - verify which way the stop is on the gear when you pull it off (it is on top of the gear).

I am pretty sure it goes toward the main body of the servo, but I haven't stripped gears in a while...

As always thanks again Tutelar. I will try to get to the LHS tomorrow to get some replacement gears. If it's flying ok do you think it is alright to fly it or should I wait for repairs?

I didn't find anything on the Paperclip Mod either but went ahead and did it anyways. The idea is to replace the extremely hard retainment pin with a paperclip which is much softer and will sheer off before any major damage is done in the event of a main rotor strike. All I did was put the paper clip in,cut off the ends and wrap the excess around the base of the spindle. I tested the mod out today during a crash. Sure enough post accident inspection found no damage except the paperclip which sheered off as advertised.

I will post the Paper Clip mod shortly...

Flying with stripped gears risks another crash... I usually purchase 1 extra gear set, since this is a usual failure point.
