I am happy with the push pull set-up.

the push pull is actually pretty slop-free so it doesnt really need changing, but somepeople miht think otherwise.

DTS is too hard on servos even on mg's, I don't see the difference in performance or advantage between the logo 500 3D and the outrage 550(I think the outrage 550 is a better performer.) Just redesign the way how the actuator arms(aileron) are mounted on the frame, I think it's pretty weak and if you can incorporate a longer battery tray up front for better CG. A silver 2mm CF of GF material will be nice.

i cannot find BLACK garolite 2mm thick, which is about 3/32. All i can find is 1/16 and 1/8 in black. The only color in 3/32 i can find is brownish green, your basic circuit board color.

Im thinking that 1/8" is a little too thick.

If i use the .060 g-10 that i use on the belt frames, the only advantage over the stock aluminum peices would be impact resistance. The minute force that would bend the aluminum frames wouldnt break the g-10. It would take a harder crash to break the garolite. HOWEVER, the .060 g-10 would be more flexible and could possibly result in a flimsy frame.

How thick are the esmart CF frames?

The E-smart CF frames are OK and flexes a little on the lower bearing area and the tabs where the elevator arms attach. How about silver texalium material in 2mm or 1.6 mm?

how thick are the cf sides, are they 1.45 mm like the aluminum?

the stock frame is 1.6mm

I like the push/pull set-up myself, works good and I like all my servos in the same place

just found some .093". thats 2.3 mm thick, still a little on the thick side but i think it would be better thicker than thinner. Im going to cut one from the .060 g10 and kind of get a feel for the flimsiness.

The stock CF frame is 2mm. I just measured it with my digital caliper. My trex 600 CF silver frame is 1.6 mm. Maybe if you make some of the frame lightening cut outs smaller and retain more material, you can use a 1.6mm texalium and the frame will be stiff as the stock CF frame and might end up being lighter. Reduce the size of the cut outs on the upper frame especially in the area where the bell cranks are mounted. Reducing the size of the holes on that part will also give an option to place a third bearing block for added stiffness. Can you post a sample CAD drawing?

Im drawing the inside cuts today but i will post them up as soon as its finished.

Texalium isnt as stiff or strong as carbon fiber So i dont think that would work. All texalium is, is a regular fiber glass woven cloth that has been coated on side with silver. The silver adds no strength and is purely cosmetic,

I wonder where align and outrage source their silver GF frame(texalium). The silver airframe would look awesome on the E-smart. Anyway, 2mm black G10would also be good.

the problem is i cant find anything in 2mm. I found texalium in 1.5 mm and 2.7 mm. And ive found g10 in 1.5 mm and 2.37mm. 2.37 will definitely be strong enough but it just seems like overkill and will make it bulky

SOMETHING TO LOOK AT!

Ive done what damyxz suggested and took 8mm out of the front of the gear and tail gear cutouts as well as added more beef to where the bell cranks mount.

Any body have any other suggestions. And i think i will add in holes and material for the extra bearing block

Default With bearing blocks

Heres the design of the upper with the bearing block holes and material added.

Let me know what you all think.

That's really nice, One last suggestion, can you leave out or make the cutouts smaller above the gear hole.
I'd rather have less flex in that area than the frame being light. To give you an idea...my e-smart's RTF weight with CF frame and metal parts, 6S 5000mAh batt, 2S lipo receiver pack and modified Trex 600 skids is 6 lbs, 9 oz.

ok now that i think about it, what the heck. Ill just make the holes small enough just to get an allen in there.
Ive never had to change a main gear, when you guys change your main gears, do you use these holes to get tools in there to remove the sleeve?
