Here is the Lama V4 with the dual swashplate and a bell hiller upper rotor head system. Gone now that "errant" flybar as the flybar disc is also now controllable by the servos. Instead of just weights, the head now has paddles. No Blade strikes, No death rolls, etc. Just pure aggressive cyclics with no errant movements.





The bell hiller mechanism was completed on the existing bell head dualswash platfrom by adding a CP2 teetering flybar hub. Paddles were from a ESky CP2. This still uses the standard LAMA V4 flybar pivot hub but instead of the usual metal flybar shaft, the metal rod was removed and replaced with a smaller diameter (1mm) CF shaft (that rotates within the hub) thus allowing the paddles to pitch on the stock flybar hub.





A direct link from the upper swash to the side of the flybar hub is then added allowing the upper swashplate to pitch the paddles themselves;

and here is the final config. Only the head was modified. The rest still uses the stock motors, stock servos, stock shaft, stock battery, etc.

With the dual swash head, even at hard cylics, both upper and lower rotor discs pitch in tandem thus blades strikes are prevented;

here are a couple of outdoor videos doing fff bank turns. And take note of the bank angle;





even at a bank angle close to 90 degrees, the upper and lower blades are at a safe distance plus the flybar is perpendicular with the shaft as the paddles continuously controls the flybar's disc tilt based on the state of the upper swashplate.

the dual swash part was started around 2008 but its not a continuous endeavor as i had other micros to experiment with. the bell hiller part was only done last weekend.

That is one insane setup. I wonder if it could be simplified greatly by using a walkera flybarless unit or just using two tiny gyros on the servos.

I just built a Vtail brushless flybarless dual swash CX. But it uses 3 gyros. G110's. The only reason I mention it here is that EQmod helped with some insight into the first dual swash mechanical bell-hiller system on its first one I built and as we all know CX's and Lama's are only separated by a few differences. The walkera will not integrate into any flybarless system as far as I can see other than their own. However the new micro Eflite flybarless electronics they just launched may work and I am looking into it. They also include a flight stability system that would eliminate some of the weaknesses of the 3 gyro setup that I am using as far as being able to hands free hover. The first three pics below are of the flybarless. The others are from the earlier mechanical system that EQ's pioneering work helped pave the way with. Sorry about the mismatched blades but I had just trashed a pair in a wreck dialing in the flybar and had temporarily reinstalled the flybar weights.
