The ESC will change the way the motor sounds. Which one are you using?

I think you are right... the ESC settings may have been what's causing the weird sound. I have CC ICE 100 and when I changed the timing from Low to Normal, it seemed to have minimized that weird sound. I'm planning of getting the YEP 120 from HK for this so maybe I'll see next.

Thanks.
Rico.

That YEP 120 HV is what this other guy was using in his Chaos 600.

Get some M4x10mm socket cap screws from Home Depot for less than $2. Depending on how thick your motor mount is, you might also need an M4 flat washer to prevent the screws from contacting the armature.

I plan to stretch Align 600e or ESP to 690 blades, 12S using YEP 120A HV, Turnigy SK3T 700, Power HD 1212 servos on cyclics, gyro Tarot ZYX, RJX FBL head. mod 1 550/600pro/700 main gear, 700 tail boom and TT.

I already have motor and regulator. Did not test it yet. I have ordered 690 RJX FBL blades.

I am not sure yet what, lipos and tail servo I'll use.

Any advice welcome.

In general I wanted to use cheap but reliable components. Second hand ESP with 3 6S 4900 Ah 25C lipos was 1/2 a price of 600 PRO combo.

I have done around 200 flights with 600e FBL TT 12S using Power HD 1209 servos and was satisfied with their performace.

I bought 1212 servos for stretch because 1209 were on backorder. 1212 are little stronger but also bit slower...

I am interested how you get on with the stretch. I am about to do the same using the same but I won't be doing anything for a while.

YEP 120HV and SK3 4962-480Kv = awesome

Did a few test spool-ups all the way to 100% throttle (no main blades). Motor runs smooth and appears to create lots of power. Can't wait to put this in the air.

I found some M4x10's at the hardware store and even with a split washer, they can be too long depending on how you orientate your motor. So if you can find M4x8, you may be better off.

Four flights with the motor in the E640 with 620mm blades.
The first two flight had the motor running a little hot. I changed the timing to low from medium and the heat went away.
The motor is barely warm after flying. Plenty of power on 12s governed to 80%

Video of the flight. I'm no 3d master, but you can hear it on punch out.

Any more news on this motor?

I found a videoo of a 700 flying one, asked him what he thought and he said good on the 600 but burnt one out in the 700.

I did a rewind on it u can read about it in the rewinding forum, the small bearings are only one end but not as bad as it seems as it has 2 double stacked. As for burning out has to be fault with the specific motor, motor stator is same size 4035 as scorpion. Dunno size of hacker turnado but looks almost like an exact copy. If youre not after absolute max power this is a good motor. Certainly good value
