Default 460mx rewind and mods

No stock test data since motor had broken wires inside.

Motor is 9n6p, factory wind 3 strand 9t of .31mm wire 1800kv (11 grams weight of stock wire)
Rewind in standard ABCABCABC 9t delta .81mm 200c wire 1861kv(12pwm)(20 grams of new wire)

The top of the can was loose , that was bonded back on and the magnets were reinforced
Also the green power coat was removed, very uneven and thick. Nomex paper used

The press fit align shaft was scraped and a scorpion 2520 3.5 end shaft was used instead.
A 3mmx.5 set screw was placed in the can to secure the shaft. The scorpion shaft is a very close fit. Can was also balanced.

Ill post some data logs soon.

Scorpion 2520 3.5mm shaft with set screw mod

I've got hundreds of flights on my 460MX and CC Edge Lite 50 and should have logs of both 6S. I'm running 12T pinion and govern at 2800-3000-3200. At verything has been running great so I haven't been downloading the logs lately, but I'll download. Them for you so you have a reference. I definitely have 6S flights, and who knows, I may have some 3S flights logged as well.

Would you prefer I post them here or PM you?

felt good for 12t , i would not mind flying this motor a good balance of power and flight time

my max watts so far 16khz , timing 5, 3400 rpm Gaui X3

peak watts were pulled at a lower set rpm of 3300, probably gave the esc more headroom on the gov

How difficult was this wind? Would you do it different if you did it again?

I am looking to try rewinding this motor as well. Did you terminate in delta?

Any tips for this one?

Man, it looks like the magnetic coverage for this motor is pretty terrible as well. I'm surprised it performs so well!

I am about to wind couple of 2221 as well, so would be happy for some tips as well.
Also - which is the best way to remove the powder coating?

Does anyone by chance know the bearing size for this motor? I want to replace them when I do the rewind as they are quite a bit noisy now with over 600 flights on it.

Hello
How did you remove the stator without damage it?
I tried to put in into a clamp between two pieces of wood and with a hammer and a piece of alluminum I tried to slide it off but without success...

Same question, how do you get the insert out of the stator?!

I got the can off but can not get the stator off the inner holder. I tried heat and a vice grip with a hammer, no luck.

There are few threads about how to do it you should look for them, but mainly deep freezing and then tapping the holder out with a fitting insert and a hammer.

Hold it by hand with a glove and do not use vise. It can damage the stator.

Ahh ok, I tried some insane heat. I damaged the stator a bit from the vice grip but I think it will still work ok. I will throw it in the freezer tonight and hopefor the best tomorrow.

The stubborn ones I soak in alcohol overnight and they come off easily.

Is it glued on? If the cold does not work I will try the alcohol method.

Man this is a PITA!

Some glued with epoxy, which is easier to break after freezing. Worse are the ones with locktite.

Align are not tough ones.

A vice will ruin the motor. Key to success is a good fitting STEEL insert and a properly sized hammer.
These small motors can be tough to separate, especially the HK-2221. I used a shaft from an Align 700mx I believe: the ridge on the shaft fits right into the bearing seat of the 2221. The 6mm part of the shaft sticks though the motor and ads stability.
Also the smaller motors require a smaller hammer. It is about creating a shock wave through the stator carrier which will shift it at very small (barely noticeable) steps at each blow/ hard tap. Wood or aluminium inserts will not give that sharp shock wave.

How are you holding the stator while you tap it with the hammer?
