Default Futaba to Spektrum

I use a Futaba Tx on all my 450-700 helis so when I ordered my Pheonix sim years ago I ordered for Futaba. It came with a short extension cable that plugs into the 1/8 stereo pin on the USB w/ box and fits the Futaba TX

Over the years I have been accumulating a lot of E Flite BnF planes, helis and quads...which until recently I used a DX 7 to fly them

Recently I bought a DX9 and am needing to know if I can simply unplug the Futaba adapter cable and plug the cable my DX9? and set it up??
I'm hoping the little black box on the connection USB cable is just a n activating 'key' or something like that and doesn't care what brand Tx gets setup on it
Can I do this or is there something Tx specific in the little black box

Thanks for any help

Any reason to not just try it? I don't think it would fry your Tx, and if you've been using 2 separate cables connected together, then it sounds like the second one is simply an adaptor. Otherwise, if the USB part was Futaba specific, why couldn't they make it a single piece? This is all just inductive reasoning on my part though, since I have never had a Futaba radio.

There is nothing TX specific in the black box.

The signal interpreted (from Spektrum or Futaba) is a single wire PPM signal (second wire for ground reference).

The Futaba adapter simply plugs to the appropriate PPM TX connection (like the 3.5mm audio connection for Spektrum/JR).

Connect, setup and fly.
