Default Well hell! tail motor

Well had the SR in the back yard started powering it up, noticed tail chopped some grass,
started to lift off, and then she started spinning like a top.....yep grass got into shaft area,
burnt tail motor up....luckily have a spare, am so tempted to throw the belt kit on, but really
want to see how she flies with the stock motor for a bit, since I am pretty much hovering the
thing right now....Reckon I'll throw the spare on since it'll only take a few minutes to do...

Yep ..... the tail is not meant to cut your grass for you !

The brushes in the motors are really soft .... so If I was you change the motor. Its not worth taking the risk.

Good thing it happened close to the ground!

I painted my tail rotor blades white, after flying this morning I noticed they were turning green at the tips...

I was just amazed at how the grass just wrapped
right around and must have put a bunch of drag
on it quickly, because I shut it down pretty quick,
when I saw what was taking place....cleaned it out,
then fired her back up...she got about 3 inches off the
ground and started spinning out of control.....
One things for sure I get practice with quick throttle
hold!

Default Yep

I have a BRAND new SR

My Tail Motor Never even got thru a 1 minute break in on Low settings.

It is a really Bad Motor or it is a GOOD motor... Just depends on what you get...

Best of Luck

The Belt conversion is good. Just depends on what one you have. I have teh Large one with all aluminum tail gear etc. It has yet to have issues.

So far this second motor holding out good, have a back up just in case...
I have the belt conversion kit that I plan on using on it soon, just enjoying flying it right now
and don't want to mess with it...I got it dialed in pretty good right now.

I just bought another one with a spare parts lot...where did you get your belt conversion
from?
