Default Ever had a tail belt break?

My front tail gears stripped on me. I'm curious about the tail belt while I have this stripped down. My belt has about 200 flights and is about 2 years old. It's an easier repair if I don't change it out as I didn't have to take the main shaft out.
Has anyone ever broken a tail belt? I haven't heard of it happening, but I don't know anyone else that flies them. I'd rather not take the main shaft apart and don't plan on it unless this is a know maintenance item.
Thanks,
Guy

Haven't broke a belt in over 350 flights combined

How did the gears strip (assuming you mean melted) ?

I've had this happen to my 700 at 136 flights and 800 at 116 flights. Both these sets of gears weren't treated with dryfluids.

I've replaced both sets and now have more than the 116/136 flights but treat and re-treat with dryfluids gear.

Hard flights with lots of tail hard stops ?
Re-shim front gear to get rid of the spooldown rattle ?

Just trying to find out what causes these gears to go.
Between my 700 and 800 crashes I'm in for ~$1800 in repairs.
Tried the forums for a possible solution but problem "doesn't exist"

Martin

Hi Martin. Yes it was the common melting of the front tail gears. I've read about it happening to others but hoped I was immune. Fortunately I did an auto so there was no damage. My 800 has about the same flight time and I haven't had this happen. There's a good thread by Dahl that discussed the shim procedure, maybe I'll try that. In his thread he states that they have never replaced a belt.
I use dry fluid also, but I haven't re applied it. It's been a year since I put it on. I can locate and post a link to the Dahl thread if you or any one else wants it. It had some very good info.

I've read some how to's reguarding the tail gears but nothing on the front end.

I'd like to read that one also if it's a front gear vid.

I assemble front as stock manual says , one shim on top , one on bottom.

Hi Martin, I'm traveling today but will find the thread tomorrow. It was a very good post. I did a Google search using something like "broken tail belt, logo 700". See if the brings up a link to a heli freak article by Dahl.
