All pinions for the 7hv is mod 1, just happens that revco makes hardened ones.

Alex, what pinion did you end up with?? Or did you just up your headspeed?

In your case, I bet 14t will be perfect for the 2200 target. I'd like to hear how well you feel it holds...will it bog? You'll have enough headroom, but will the motor be capable of holding it? I am not sure. Please report back!

Will do! Just have to get the build finished and the heat up in the weather. A little less snow would hjelp to! :-) going skiing with my five year old now

Cullen, which motor? I'm using an ICE2 with a 4036-560 and I can easily get 2150 without a warning.

Typical, the scorpion 12T pinion i had to settle on as the revco was out of stock is actually longer than the stock, going to have to sand it down to size a bit. Hope it doesn't cause any vibe problems

When i switched pinions I was abel to get the Revco 12T pinion. The stock 13T was eating my main gear every 8-10 flights for some reason. The Revco has a very different tooth profile, the Scorpion pinion is somewhere in between the Revco and the Stock pinion tooth profile. I'm thinking of switching my 6HV over to a Revco pinion now.

As soon as the revco comes in its going on the 7hv.

Are you guys putting a smidge of retaining compound on the pinions?? The scorpion came with 2 grub screws.

I just used the one grub screw that came with the Revco. I did use 243 loctite on the grub screw because of the possibility of oil getting there, some how (Scorpion motor and all that...).

I use red loctite on these grub screw, just after the stock pinion that either grew or slipped down into the bearing i think some retaining compound might be in order.

I've got my first 6hv motor sitting on the shelf with a pinion stuck on it. No amount of heat will take it off. I've only use blue Loktite on the pinion grub screws only. No issues if done properly.

Sorry Scott, thought we were all talking about the mx 510kv. I would like to try the 530kv, but they'e harder to come by cheap.

I prefer the 1st one. I think the reason my 7hv was eating main gears was the stock pinion along with main gear wobble. The stock pinion and your second choice is tapered and are less forgiving of misalignment or gear wobble.

Sorry to bother you guys. But what do you do when the pinion is to high for the motor mount to come together be course of the track in the main shaft for the grub screw being to high?
(align 700mx 530kv)

use a dremel or file to make the slot in the motor shaft longer or taller in the direction needed. Poke the shaft through a plastic bag to keep the metal shavings from going into the motor and bearings.
