Default I'm no expert

For indoor 80% and +50% D/R&EXPO across the board work for me.

I find it a bit to responsive @ full rates

I broke down also and picked up a MQX a couple days ago. So far these are the settings I have been using on the DX6i.

Low settings
Ail 80% rate, +20 expo
Ele 80% rate, +20 expo
Rud 100% rate, 0 (INH) expo

My high rate setting is all at 100%, no expo.

Default My DX6i settings

Just flew a bit, adjusting on the go

I started with 50% for all @ 35% expo.
Changed rudder to 100% immediately, as it is super stable in rotation.
Went to 25% expo as was too insensitive at small corrections @ 35%

This thing is amazingly agile and responsive. I have an AR Drone and it is truly lame in comparison. The drone, if you give it any level of control, will 'autocorrect' and basically detect an 'emergency (too much tilt) and shut down.

I've flown the MQX around 6 times so far, it is, IMHO, a much better device that the ARD.

I'm very much a noob, just got the DX6i recently. It took me a little searching to get it setup to my liking. Here is my cliff notes:

-Make sure you have gone to "setup list" and set it to acro
-Also while there set "D/R Combi" to "FM" so that you can use the F mode switch to control rates for ail ele and rud
-Then go back to main menu and select D/R Expo, you will see the rates and expo for ail, ele, and rud for setting 0. Flip the F mode switch to get setting 1 rates and expo.

Hope this helps.

Default DX6i

I'm certainly a noob also, just one that has lots of 'crash' experience

For the MQX, I believe that instructions say to use the AERO config. This is really important.

After you set-up a 'model' (I just picked an unused one, named it MQX) then in D/R &EXPO, you get a list: AILE, ELEV, RUDD.

AILE and ELEV controls (I think) are on the right stick and control forward/back and left/right for the MQX.

RUDD is on the left stick and controls the 'rotation' (the direction it is pointing).

I set up for Mode 2, as this is how helicopter controls are typically configured...so if you want to fly another copter, you'll have learned the 'finger memory'

Cheers

The DR Combi is in the "Setup list" menu. Although I can't figure out how to set it to FM. It only gives 4 options on my 6i and those are ail/ele/rud or INH. Only lets me select 1.

I am using Acro though. Maybe it is only available in heli mode?

lol Are you using acro mode? Just curious. I am gonna try and setup a model in heli mode to see if that option becomes available.

EDIT : OK gooberguz that is what it is. FM is an option in heli mode. Although the manual says set it up in acro?

Are most of you guys using acro or heli?

See my post above I edited it. Haven't tried flying it yet but it does work in heli mode. I will post when I try to fly. Unfortunately I only have one battery right now and I just came in from flying so gotta charge.

Will post back when I try it in heli mode.

Well after my Raven's lost the AFC championship to the Patriots I finally got to try this mqx in heli mode.

It works very very well. Well indoors anyway lol. I set my dual rates in the 0 position for 100% ail/ele/rud 20% expo on ail/ele. Position 1 I set 75% ail/ele and 100% rudder. Again 20% expo on ail/ele.

This is where it is nice as previously posted to set the DRcombi to FM. You flick the flight mode switch and get DR where you want them. Great tip ygndt thank you

Remember you cannot do this in acro mode! Only heli.

Have fun and happy flying to all!

Go San francisco 49'ers!!!!!!

I picked up one of these up this weekend, and put it in heli mode. Didn't really mess with D/R's and stuff. What is the reason for putting it in acro mode?

Thanks man!

@sweatypalms - We put it in acro mode because that is what the manual says. It flies great in acro mode but I like heli mode better because you can set all DR to the flight mode switch.

lmfao dude!!! Check out this video it is my maiden flight. You here me in the beginning blaming my buddy Farmer Dave for the purchase. I think I said "next time you put a gun to my head shoot me!" because that is what the wife is gonna do when she finds out I put $140 bucks on the discover card.

Funny thing is she has walked past this thing for 3 days now and watched some video of me flying and still hasn't questioned it lol.
