SRB QUARK BRUSHLESS REPLACEMENT?

Hi!
Anyone that have sucsess with finding a replacement for the ?1720Kv 13.5g brushless outrunner. Maybe i have to buy the original.. I have not found much data for the motor.

I'd go with the Hirobo. I'm surprised that you wore it out, though. Mine has been flying for years with no sign of wear...

Tnx for your opinion, motor is still running here also after 4year, but i could need a bit moore torque.
I asked because its good to know my options, and i dont like to pay 80$ if i can get a replacement for half price. Experimenting with various blades is also a option. The SG blade is compatible, but will it work better?
Do you know a good carbon or plastic blade with lenght 160-170mm?
I know the motor is the same used in the SG, but running 3C 11.1V. I guess the contol unit of the SRB (no SG) would blow if i tested with 3C, anyone have experience with this?

Hi Espen,

The SG main blade is more rigid than the SRB, as I remember since I sold my SRB long ago to replace it with the SG.

I saw this upgrade motor available for the SG, and I guess the SRB:

Not a cheap date but looks pretty nice...

What are you looking for in terms of improved performance? I'm not sure that you can get much more from a fixed pitch heli, but maybe...

All the Hirobo parts are expensive, you might try to get some small & cheap motors from hobbyking and see how they perform with your SRB?

Tnx for info, as you see it's the same motor for SG and SRB.
Since i have no data for the SRB control unit/ESC i can not risk testing with 3cell's.

Can i ask you to meassure the SG blade from tip to tip?
SRB blade is 160mm.

In the Quark SRB thread over on RCG someone tried running their SRB at 11.1V, it doesn't work, it gives a voltage error. So while the motors are the same between the SRB and the SG, the control units run different voltages. So the SG upgrade motor isn't an option for the SRB...

The SG blade is only 6mm longer, but quite a bit wider, more durable and less prone to coning.

It's pretty rare to see a used SG come up for sale, at least here in the US. I love mine and have been keeping one eye out looking for a 2nd, but haven't seen any in a long time. eBay in Germany seems active, but no one wants to ship to the US. IMHO $500 seems a little high for a used one, at least compared to new prices I've seen in Germany and Asia. But, then again, it would take more than that for me to sell mine LOL

I absolutely love my SG and of course the original. I bought mine used from the UK and had it shipped... for fair price. Also, i've put the SG (BlueEX) motor in the Original SRB. Using stock battery my power is unreal and seems limitless, unlike the original SRB motor.... Now I had no problems with original motor to begin with, but just wanted to experience. The SG (BlueEX) motor really gives it the throttle that i was looking for in both my SG and original SRB.

Hi Tony,

So the blue upgrade SG motor runs in the SRB at 2S? It's pretty expensive so I haven't even upgraded the SG. Dang, no end to ways of spending money

Both my SRB's have the EX motor and they ROCK!!!! Also, I found my SG set, with full upgrades, on Ebay in the UK. The seller and myself were a little surprised at how relatively cheap the shipping was. And it was a fairly large box. Good luck.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but do any of you guys think that there is still a market for an almost never used Quark SRB? I swore I'd never get rid of it, but I haven't flown it in years so it should go to someone who can appreciate it. Any ideas what I should ask for it? Thanks guys!

You can always sell everything! In europe, Quark's go on ebay for 100-200€ depending on the condition and accessories.

So, yes, I think there's a market, but you'll have to put some effort in.. post adds on the various forums, try ebay whatever...

Not everyone wants to pay the big bucks for an SG :-)

And it's still a great machine for a beginner!
