It was very quiet. It appears to spin the motor slower than a normal start speed.

Takes longer too....

Yup, he even commented about it being in automatic cool down.

Yes, I heard the comment, but what I did not hear was the ACTUAL cool down, the early SPH5/PHT3 did do this but it was a sign the O ring in the Bendix had worn or the shaft need a little oil as it was sticking.. but as Chris explained it was very quiet unlike the SPH5 and PHT3 I had.. even the Wrens I currently have you can hear the cool down cycle..

I wonder if there is a parameter within the Fadec where you can alter the speed.. but I suppose as long as it does the job and prolongs the bearing life then that is all that matters.

Got it today! Chris was awesome! Explained everything to me and made me feel a lot calmer even though I was a nervous wreck! lol! Beautifully engineered helicopter and a joy to fly! I have only flown four or five times in the last four years, Chris helped me with my confidence and this heli was a piece of cake to fly and very stable! This heli makes my 700E DFC look small! lol! Thank you again Chris for your hospitality, time and patience. It was a pleasure doing business with you.

Cool down works fine.

Shout out to JetCat, at least partially. I missed that one of the starter housing "legs" was cracked and appeared to have been glued back together (the Customer spotted it when the glue failed), so I sent an email to JetCat.de.

Then another one. And another. No reply to any emails, however today I received a new starter mount in the mail!

An email reply would have been nice to alleviate the customer's concerns, but at least we have a new housing..

Thank you Chris and Jetcat Germany for getting the housing so quickly! I have just replaced it and what a job that was, the starter is glued into the housing and the pins are soldered into the engine! Also the housing doesn't come pre drilled from the factory! Chris did say he would do it for me under warranty but I'm both very impatient and a very hands on type of person so I ended up doing it myself. If it ever happens again I will pay Chris to do it for me!!!! lol! I'll do a write up in a moment so if anyone has the same issue they can at least see how it's done.

Thank you again Chris for all your help, I will go flying tomorrow.

Mine had been flying many times before I banked it round a bit harder one day and had a flame out.
Put it down to freeing a little bubble of trapped air in the filter on advice of Mike at Wren.
Mounted the filter vertical and it has not happened since.

Glad to hear you got it down mostly safely.

My first ever "real" auto was with my turbine as well-- but it was entirely my fault. I had increased the max rpm of the turbine (thereby increasing fuel consumption) but forgot to shorten the flight timer to match. Near the end of the flight I heard things go quiet and got the "flameout" alarm from my TX.

The auto itself went quite well except the heli was far enough away from me that I misjudged the height of the alfalfa and flared a bit too high from the ground. The heli dropped the last 2 feet much faster than I was hoping it would and disappeared into the alfalfa, bounced up back into view, and then settled down into the alfalfa where I couldn't see it. Ran out with the extinguisher expecting the worst but instead found the heli upright and the turbine going through the cooldown cycle. Wiped some mud off the skids and the bottom of the frame, did a complete inspection, shortened the timer by a minute, and flew again.

I still don't practice autos as often as I should as my flying site really doesn't lend itself to them unless you can do "spot autos." Miss that spot and you're landing in a V-ditch on one side or a steep bank on the other side.

The suggestion to mount the fuel filter vertically to avoid air entrapment is a good one. Mine is mounted horizontally and while I've never had a problem, maybe I should relocate it...
