Question Heli is talking to me, what is it saying ?

getting a strange chirping sorta sound. you can hear it when the heli is close in this video.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dqbSev4PlE&feature=plcp[/ame]

when spooled up on the ground it does not make the noise, only after lift off.

its new - < 12 filghts. (for other issues the motor and tophat bearing replaced, most of tail as well - except the slider bearing)

Its been consistent, have not noticed any particular control inputs that change the noise.

Any thoughts on where to start looking to track this down ?

Thanks - Tim

Not too sure if it's the noise your on about but the short group of high pitched pulsing sounds the motor made sounds possibly like too high a gov gain? If you rant running a gov then not too sure? My 6hv has gone through many strange noise changes in it life. Most haven't been a problem.

I am running the skookum gov, all settings for the gov are the defaults, I'll check into those settings. Thanks

That noise can also be caused by a vibration.

Was reading some posts, seems like low 30's is a good place to start. I'll give that a try tomorrow

This could also be a PWM rate in the ESC that is too low. That can cause chirping under load. I'm not saying that is what it is for sure, but it could be.

Running the hw 70 @ 15, tried 18 and 21 previously, didn't alter the noise, good suggestion though.

Traveling now. Won't get a chance to fly till the end of the week.

Regarding the SK gov gain, tried 30, had gusting winds making enough noise friday that I couldn't say for sure if it helped.

I think it was the gov gain. I'm still in process of trying lower numbers, but the pulsing noise is much less now. I'll post what I end up with.

Taking a while, had a crash/ fix... Then road trip where I couldn't try it it till the 6th, then an auto reset at about 6 inches off the ground on re maiden.. I had no Internet access so was not aware of the 3.1 logging issue... Figured maybe the crash had damaged the bec so I ordered a new one and replaced it when I got home.

Was greeted back in Seattle with T storms Friday ;( , got a 3 minute flight in yesterday before it started raining. Argggggg.

Oh well now I have a spare bec...

Tim
