Right now I have a Logictech LTG-6100T Gyro/ LTG-6100G Servo and I am looking to upgrade because I have some tail drifting. It is for a trex 600 with neu 1515/2.5d/f running 6 cells but going to upgrade to 8 soon.
What do you guys recommend? I do like to do 3d flying but I am by no means a pro. Futaba GY611 Gyro w/S9256 Servo or G770/S8900G Gyro/Servo Combo Pack |

I use 770's on my 500, 600 and 700 and they work great. My first 600 nitro I used a 611 and it worked well also. I like the 770 because it is small, light, simple and holds rock solid.

Does anyone have more information on this? I'm interested in losing my 611 in favor of the 770, mostly because it needs the amp and I prefer less weight and more room for my gov.
I know hard 3D tends to expose weaknesses. Plus, the guys at those skill levels really know what they're doing with mechanical setups and fine tuning. Hoping to hear some unbiased info from the hardcore guys who have used both.

I find the 770 works as good as the 611 for me. I am always pushing it to its limits in backwards flight. The only time it drifts a little is doing an inverted backwards Hurricane at speed. But i find this acceptable drift, only 10 degs at most and its easy to correct.
In fact i'v never seen a gyro that holds up perfectly under those conditions. |

Hi All,
I've used the Futaba 401 and 611, the JR 770, and the Spartan DS760. Here is my assessment: GYROS 401 - Didn't hold in fast backwards or repetitive flips. Had very inconsistent piro rates. 770 - Stops were a bit too abrupt, but it held great. Small, inexpensive and lightweight. 611 - Beautiful fully configurable 3D gyro. They are everything you can ask for except you have to deal with the extra weight and placement of the separate amp. DS760 - This is the best gyro I have used to date. It has all the configurability of the 611 without the separate amp. You do have to have a laptop and the Flashlink cable to take advantage of the configurability though. SERVOS 9254 servo - Got about 180 electric flights before the servo failed. 9256 servo - I have one that failed at about 160 nitro flights and another that is still going after 185 electric flights. 8900g servo - I have about 350 electric flights on it without any sign of it wanting to give up. I think this JR tail servo with three year warranty is a winner. BLS251 servo - Awesome performance but it's too early to tell if it will really last five times as long like Futaba says. I only have 20 nitro flights on it so far. Based on what I've learned so far, I'd say the DS760 with the 8900g is the best combination. Good luck with whatever you decide. Keep 'em flying. ![]() LJS

Except for the control box, the 611 is much easier to set up than the 770. I spent a lot of time tinkering with a 770, I can get a 611 perfect in about 2 minutes of flight time.

Awesome info!
I think I'll be happy with the 611/9256 for a long time. I'm not very experienced but I can definitely feel tail bounce. On the 450 it kinda spooks me with super-fast piro rates because of how quick that little sucker is. The servo feedback was great too. I'm using the tiny Logictech 2100T instead of the 401 on my 450. For some odd reason I think the setup is easier than a 401...mostly because it makes more sense for me to setup mechanical hovering center in rate mode and then ATV on both sides, rather than starting from an imperfect mechanical hover in rate and tuning both sides of the slider to the same number. Any feedback on the LT 2100T would be cool too (vs. 401)

Have been reading this thread with interest. I'd like to build a 600 in the near future and need all the help I can get concerning gyro's and servos. Seems that the 9256 servo and GY611 would be a good way to go, but have been seeing ads for a BLS251 servo to go with the 611. Anyone know about it and is it a better way to go.
Thanks, I appreciate any info |

The 611 is a hulking ancient gyro (that works VERY well). It does what you tell it and no special interface of any kind is required as it is included (and on board - the reason it is so huge). The 770 is a fine product as well, but a bit cryptic and can take some time to get it how you like. Due to the complete lack of any configuration interface, you may feel a bit disconnected from it.
The Spartan, however, is tiny and has kickass performance. The extra cost computer interface is wonderful, but bums me that it is not included, so you have to pay $30 or something for it. The Spartan 760 is also hard to acquire and may take some searching or overseas buying. If you are up for waiting a bit, Futaba has a new gyro coming out soon that will probably work as well or better than the 611 and is really tiny. And may be less money than the Spartan. I know nothing about it, but Curtis Youngblood has a new gyro out that is small and less money than any of the above (Mini-G). The last of your choices should be the 611 in my opinion. |

For what it is worth, my BLS251 lasted (less than) 30 seconds. Fortunately, because it was the first run with this servo, I was just hovering a few feet off the ground. |

Thanks for the info. A Main has the DS 760 for 220.00 and a Curtis Youngblood Solid G for 195.00 (didn't find a mini G yet). Do you have any idea when Futaba will have the new Gyro out? Waiting a little while is not a problem, still snowing like crazy here in WV, but a good time to build. Would like to have everything up and running by May 1 and wondered if the new Gyro would be in stores by then?

Had some free time on my hands and have been searching the net. I think the new Futaba gyro is the GY 520. Susposed to be the size of a postage stamp, very light weight and will work with both analog and digital servos. It's expected to be out late March, at a cost of about 200.00. Couldn't find any info about it being paired up with a servo, so may have to figure that out and buy it separately.

There was some erronious information about it being compatable with gyros like the 401 or others using the standard 1500us center pulse, which it is NOT

The story:
I have a 611/9256 combo. Works great, but wanted to try the Spartan, so I got the DS760 and left the 9256 on the heli. Worked great! Wanted to try out the new BLS251, so I bought one of those and put it on, changing nothing else. And she cooked. Simple answer: DS760 |
