If you are one of the lucky one that has a nose heavy 600N, then you could do it.
It would put the servo out into the exhaust smoke when inverted. I think that it is mainly for the 600E!! Mick

keep your servo dry and clean up front. They heat up during use then suck in oil when cooling. Very lucky it happened on my first raptor that did not have a driven tail and I autoed into another field, no damage but the servo was full of oil. I cleaned it out and it is now on throttle on my 600Pro.

Iīve been lookin for a carbon pushrod kit for the Nitro version. But Iīm not too keen on having to mount my tailservo on the boom. Is it possible just to use the pushrod instead of the normal metal one? Then you have the servo still mounted in front but you wonīt get any play in the tiny long original pushrod.
Iīve seen this on the Extreme50 that my brother has, but I donīt know if this is standard. On the Extreme50 they have the same setup with 2 pushrods for the tail as the Trex600. Anyone knows where these rods can be bought? |

You would have to have a longer pushrod than one that is designed for a boom mounted tail servo.
It should be an easy fix. Go to LHS and get the same diameter piece of carbon as what comes in the kit just longer, then cut it to the required length. If you bought 2 of the quick kits you could cut the original rod/tube and rig it up from the servo to the bell crank then the new piece you bought from LHS would be from the bell crank to the tail. The endings for the rod is only provided in the kit from QuickUK or can these be purchased somewhere else?
The kit is quite expensive just to get the endings. One thought was to epoxy regular endings (dont remember what they called in English) to a CF rod. |

I managed to make myself a quite good setup with carbon rods from my LHS and the endings from QuickUK.

That looks nice and neat!
Did you weigh the 2 rods before and after by any chance? Mick

No sorry! I didnīt. But I could remove them and weigh them and compare to the original ones.
Iīll post it here when done. |

Okey, hereīs the result
Original pushrods 24,5 grams New CF pushrods 26 grams Iīm certain that you can cut that 1,5 gram by using 1mm smaller diameter on the CF rod. |

Close enough to being the same. Thank you for weighing them!
Is the main tail control rod supported along the boom? Mick

No support along the boom. I will try the setup when the weather supports flying. But I think it is rigid enough without support. I havenīt found any support clamps anyway so I have to go with this setup.

The stock setup is fine! The guys I fly with smoke 99% of the pilots out there and no one has modified this aspect of the 600N. I would spend more time and energy on things like increasing cyclic throw or main/paddle combinations. Good luck.

The thing is that Iīm no fanzy 3D flyer (yet anyway). Actually quite new to the hobby. But I like the looks of the carbon rods. And I need no more cyclic throw.Thereīs probably no win in stability or other gains with this setup, but I like it. In the wait for good flying weather these kind of things is really fun to make and gets me through the dark cold evenings here upnorth.
